The Cisco VPN issue was behind this for me. No network adapter available.
Some people are reverting to win8.1 , uninstalling Cisco/VPN then re-upgrading.

Just to finish my thread hijacking...this completely worked for me. Rudy Mas you were right - the recovery options from harddisk are different to those from usb so the solution you and the others...
That's what I can't do. I boot into recovery mode and the step where you use cmd dos prompt is denied because now it requires the password before cmd will run. They've closed the loophole. :(
Don't want to derail the thread but I'm in the same position.
Cmd now requires password before it will work so any old ways of getting in don't work.

What happened to the preview pane in explorer? I use it all the time but in Windows 10 it's missing. Is it just me?
