I just upgraded my computer including changing from an Asus M5A99FX motherboard to a Gigabyte x470 Aorus. My problem is that when I boot the computer it starts and runs windows for about 3 minutes...
Does the "DXSETUP.exe Bad Image" convey any clues? I have not seen any other information made available; where could I look?
As regards games on Steam: I go to my account games library, select a game to play, it starts the little (black) window shown in the center of the screen .. Performing first time .. etc Then it fails...

I compared the directx folders for the games I have and saw a significant difference. The game that plays has 5 items 2 cab files and 3 non-cab files. The games that won't play all contain 157...
Ok. I did the same and got 3,948 items.
Just looked in properties and there are 15,866 files and 1175 folders.

I have been trying to test it any other games would play. I find that Dragon Age Origin (1) could be installed off the original disk and played successfully ... no association with the Origin game...

HDTune just finished. I ran 'error scan', 'benchmark scan', but saw no action to perform for 'health'. All screenshots attached:

The HDD is a WD1002FAEX-00Z3A0 which Western Digital says runs at 7200rpn. However, Speccy reports it at 10000rpm???

After 3 1/2 hrs I started fiddling and find that you have to select which test; short, long or audio. Short ran (~2 min) and passed. I'm going to do the 'long' now.
No need to run the test on your laptop. I'll give you an update after its run a few hours... hopefully it'll be done. It's been a little over 1 hour now.
