I think my Ubuntu vm got created using the Default Switch by default, which didn't allow me to access resources...
are you sure the virtual disk within the vhdx is not bigger than 130 GB. Not sure about Macrium but I did have similar issues due to virtual hard disks being expanded when copying or extracting....
Hi Cereberus, I didn’t find the two lines you recommended to comment out, in those current versions of install.sh.
I looked at both the developer’s and the MS git?
hi Cereberus,
great! unfortunately I'm stuck with my ("heavily customised") 16.04 as Canonical announced they will only provide distribution updates from July 26.
impatiently waiting......
I recommend DriverBooster, wouldn't want to live without it.
Free Version is fine but with paid Pro Version you can easily backup all your drivers, which helps perfectly to roll back to an older...
It certainly does delete them if you use PowerShell with administrator privileges. I've had issues with Hyper-V Manager myself, but didn't find out the reasons.
more discussion about checkpoints...
thank you for this tool... saved my life ;-)
Yes.. I have already installed XP in Hyper-V.
Windows 7/XP was more out of interest/curiosity as it's so nicely integrated with XPMode.
There you can run programs not even read realising they are...
come on guys.. no ideas? [emoji15]
could it be an issue with 32bit XP on 64 bit Windows 7 vm maybe?

Hi Kari,
actually I do this similarly. Just, I like to keep the date/time in name as it is not otherwise shown in Hyper-V Manager.
So I always create my checkpoints with generated name and...
Indeed, fully agree! So I also did some experimenting today. I had one VM for which the Checkpoints got huge in size after copying around some vhds and trying to get XPMode working in Windows 7....
interesting observations!
My question came up when I was reading about the Snapshots used in VirtualBox, where somebody stated it was not a good idea to build on too many checkpoints as it would...
Are these checkpoints independent from each other? Or do they store the system state in differencing images? If so, how would we merge them?
To keep or restore a vm from a backup, would it be...
+1.
This thread is from 2015; no it makes no sense to bring it up again as it’s contents are widely void.
To my knowledge, there is no more free version of VMware.
Plus today, VirtualBox (5.2) is more...
When first time installing XPmode in a Windows 7 guest hosted by Hyper V on my Windows 10, the installation freezes and Hyper-V Manager says: Communication Lost.
This happens a lillle time after...
once everything else has failed, a clean install most probably will solve it. Or do a repair by inplace upgrade, if you want to keep your programs and data.
Kari, will we be able to also remove the Virtual Switch for vms we created before the upgrade? I ask as you said we can configure this when creating new virtual machines.
I will upgrade to FCU then...
this is the correct forum. I also have issues since installing Hyper-V / the virtual switch. E. g. my WiFi Monitoring app isn't able to show the current WiFi connection, quality and speed anymore....
played fine on Android, Tapatalk.

What are we here in this thread actually waiting for... for going from .19 to .20 ? Hehehe XD
I think this comes from a manual install that you would have to have initiated. Seen the same on my PC but didn't find how to deinstall.
Thanks Cliff, (and Bree) will look into it! Sometimes we do see strange behaviour after update, so this might be helpful. Up to now I just did Disk Cleanup / System cleanup.
And same here, never...
