Upgrading to 64-bit requires reinstalling and reconfiguring all the software. Upgrading to Windows 10 32-bit, meanwhile, ensures security updates continue.
No new drivers; I'm still using the one Windows Update provides.
If Intel provides a newer driver, I'll try it.
Update: I haven't had a hang in a while. I wonder what's behind this problem?
Thanks for the tip!
I uninstalled and went back to the driver from Windows Update. It hangs sometimes (less often than with the latest driver), but waiting until the screen saver comes on and then moving the mouse...
The solution seemed to be to use SFC /SCANNOW and reboot. When I did that, the stack had magically reappeared, along with drivers for my Bluetooth devices.
The Bluetooth stack on my Dell 5480 (Windows 10 Enterprise 1809 x64) is corrupt. Bluetooth adapter is Qualcomm QCA61x4a; I have tried deleting the device and its drivers in Device Manager and...
The error occurs with the latest updates from Intel. Uninstalling the graphics driver and using the newest one from Dell does not eliminate the problem.
Are there any logs that can provide clues...
A week ago, I installed the newest Intel DCH driver for my OptiPlex 740 SFF 530 integrated graphics (1809 Professional x64). Now, when resuming from sleep, occasionally the system will hang (with the...
And now I can move on with 1809, and continue to use my venerable old HP 2709m.
Thank you for trying.
Meanwhile, I reinstalled the driver Intel pushed to me this morning. Same problem. I opened the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel, and selected Display, and then Customize...
Intel pushed another driver this morning, but it had the same problem.
There's nothing obvious in the driver settings to deal with this. I uninstalled again.
It's an old HP 2709m. I don't see why it would be at fault and not the drivers, given that it's worked properly for nine years.
It was probably working from the start.
That's one of them (the first one I downloaded) and it would not install the first time. I downloaded it again and it successfully installed, but it had the same problem as the other newer drivers...
Sometimes Windows Updates completes without finding any updates, which suggests it's working and there just are no updates available.
I downloaded the latest driver from Intel's site. The upgrade utility only lists a RST as being available.
I have another VirtualBox VM which doesn't have these problems.
Hmm ... it seems that the Windows Update service is crashing due to
Windows.Devices.Sensors.dll.

And, the error code (0x800705b4) is back.
I am thinking the most prudent move at this point is to roll back the 1809 update.
I am still getting errors.

Not all of those commands work, but stopping the services and the two renames, followed by restarting the services, appears to have worked. Windows Update now concludes its check normally, without...
On Friday, I upgraded a VirtualBox VM 1803 Professional x64 to 1809. When the upgrade was complete, I ran Windows Update, but it errored out after a long delay with ERROR_TIMEOUT (0x800705b4).
I...
Intel won't let me install their generic driver on my Dell.
