Funny thing!
I downloaded twice on my own win 11 PC, same result, did not open at all.
Then I downloaded on my wife's win 10 PC, installed and ran without a hitch.
HDD comes back 100% in both...
Nothing happens. That file has a strange extension: hdsentinel_trial_setup.zip.opdownload
I have downloaded that HD Sentinel zip but win can't open it.
If I clone to a new SSD the mysterious problem that the PC seems to have might be cloned over, right? And then what?
Probably need to install win 10 from scratch, right?
Ok, that seems to be a solution.
However, the PC was running reasonable fast as recent as about 6 months ago. Something inside must have changed at that time.
I don't understand why I should install a bigger drive. It's a 1TB drive, isn't that big enough? Enlarging C to 200 GB ought to be good enough, or?
Megahertz: Yes, I did the chkdsk, CrystalDisk, scannow and everything came back fine.
That does mean that the HDD is still halfway decent, right?
3nd: I did most of that cleanup already.
...
Here's a screen shot:
Megahertz: yes, sorry I didn't follow your instructions. Il try it again.
I found out that my wife's Thunderbird profiles use up most of the space on C.
How about if I increased the C partition to 200GB and moved the profiles to the E partition?
Would tat help?
The PC was purchased new about 5-6 years ago.
I tried the chkdsk command but it's not running because the volume is used by another process.
There's no app running at all.
OK, here are the specs:
Inspiron 3655, 8GB RAM, AMD A8-7410, HDD-25% free, Build 19045.3930.
No OneDrive installed
My wife's PC (win 10, 22H2) is awfully slow. Every single app on the task bar takes about 10 seconds to react and then it takes another 10 to 15 seconds until it's ready to be used. I ran a defrag...
It appears that the router is at fault. I have ordered a new one.
Thanks for all the input, much appreciated.
My wife's PC (win 10, 22H2) lost it's internet connection from one minute to the next. I ran a troubleshoot and it says that "ethernet does not have a valid IP configuration". What could cause that...
If I use dban what happens to the win 10 reset? Everything wiped out?
What do you mean, pull the hard drives. Throw the PC away?
Did that. Now I'm at the screen asking about the region but neither the mouse nor the keyboard is working. What now?
Hi, I'm clearing out my old win 10 PC before I give it to Goodwill and I'm trying to remove my logon pic and email address on the account screen. How do I do that? Thanks.
Well, thanks again for all your help.
It turns out that me HP PC is about 10 years old, that might account for a lot of shortcomings.
I'm currently researching to buy bits and pieces to build a new...
Mister Ed, thanks for the detailed post. I went (several times) through all those steps and, unfortunately, no mouse detected.
Guys, thanks for all the input. I have marked the thread as solved, insofar that I was told that Logitech doesn't have drivers. Cheers, Ed
Going back to post #7: If the June 2006 date in device manager is just a placeholder, the real driver might be much newer, right? Is there any way to find what the actual driver is?
No, I don't run any third party stuff and I do not have any other Bluetooth devices.
Looks like I can't get win 10 to acknowledge the mouse. Oh well, as long as it works, lag be damned.

Yes, green light for a few seconds.
Yes, new batteries, the old mouse has been working for years, the laser on the bottom is invisible.
