I didn't use a DVD, I used Media Creation Tool in an attempt to update Windows 10. This also means that it automatically chose the right version for the OS. As for the error message that happened...
I'm on a computer that I don't use that much and I noticed that Windows Update has the 10586 update queued up, but it doesn't actually install when I restart the computer. I get the options of...
Quick change here, as more information has been discovered. I'll paste my discussion from another thread I'm asking on.

Until recently, I've been able to use...
Up until earlier today, the Start Menu worked fine...but now something bizarre is happening.
I could type in a command, such as G:\ or Steam and hit enter, and that would activate the command. ...
I've been using VLC and MPC for ages with no problems. Also, I don't think the onboard video card has anything to do with it, as I've disable it in bios.
The newest Nvidia one.
Actually, I just tried playing a 3gb video file with all three (MPC, VLC, WMC) and all three went down.
All in kind of the same way as well. The audio kept playing, but the video froze up.
and...
After I upgraded to Win 10 from 7, I started getting this bizarre issue when video files would crash in both VLC and MPC, but not Windows Media Player. The larger the video, the more guaranteed the...
Solved the issue. I somehow had two Office 2013 installed. Got rid of one of them and the updates installed fine on the other.
Actually, scratch what I said earlier. I just took a look at my update history and it seems that my regular updates are fine...but my updates to Office 2013 are all failing.
I did that the problem still remains.
I'm trying to install updates, but I get an Error 0x8007066f and when I researched it and ran the FixIt, the result was "service registration is missing or corrupt" with a status of "Not Fixed" ...
Actually, I had this same problem and I did fix it. It's due to a glitch in the OS and it requires a registry edit to fix.
Go into regedit and then do this

Uninstalled Avast, installed AVG...everything is running as it should.
From the looks of it, Avast may be the culprit here. I reinstalled it and everything loads ultra slowly now until I disable the shields. I'm gonna go check avast forums to see if anyone else is...
Huge breakthrough. I disabled my Avast antivirus protection and now everything is loading like it should. 7zip works instantly, exe files load like they should, and everything else is good.
I...
So when I monitor, what is it that I'm looking for? I'm starting to think that this might not work, since 7 Zip is still taking longer than it should, and programs seem like they are taking longer to...
Well, I'm doing the ram tests now. I removed one stick and the problem remained, so I changed the sticks and it seems to be better for now. Of course, it was fine earlier...but VLC still loaded...
Thought I'd go ahead and toss out another little update here. Ran memtest for 2 hours, got 46 errors, but they were all test 13 errors, which is the Hammer Test. From some studying I've done, it...
Another thing I should probably point out is that the folders themselves load up just fine, and that once the programs are loaded up, then they run normally, and are able to browse files regularly. ...
I reinstalled/repaired the Intel Management Engine Components, and that seemed to be the temporary fix. Except that I reinstalled VLC and MPC and those still load slow in comparison to Windows Media...
The plot thickens. It doesn't appear to be an issue with the hard drives after all, but the applications. Using Windows native apps allows the files to open right away, using other apps causes the...
Ran crystaldiskinfo and it said that the oldest drive in my computer was showing caution, so I got everything running good again, then pulled the drive. It takes about an hr from when I start it up...
I've recently been having this problem where accessing files from my any of my six hard drives takes about 10x longer than usual. It used to be that I could double-click on an image and it'd come up...
I have a G75VW laptop from ASUS with Via HD audio and the 5.1 audio doesn't work with any of the drivers. I don't know if this is due to the drivers just not being available yet, or if there's some...
