Try right clicking on the speaker icon in the taskbar and clicking "troubleshoot sound problems". Maybe that will detect what's wrong.

Try running "chkdsk C: /F /R" from the Windows installation DVD - click repair your computer at the bottom on the installation screen and then choose command prompt. That should fix the corrupt files

Try running sfc /scannow in command prompt (as admin) - there's a possibility some system files may be corrupt.

You could try and add the printer via devices and printers and see if Windows can find the driver - this worked for my Epson printer when I set it up with my computer. Otherwise - try the 8.1...

That depends - are you using a beta driver? Going back to an older update could reduce compatibility even further. If you're using a beta driver maybe try reverting back to the latest stable version...

It could be a graphics driver issue - have you installed the latest drivers for your card?
