Hi Megahertz,
Please reread what I wrote carefully - and also what your colleague wrote. I was not at all unkind to Dalchina. That person had let me know in a last message that my computer was...
Reply to thread 22 Dalchina: My last thread #21 was not addressed to you. Please consider this matter as closed and solved (for you). Thank you.
Reply to thread 23 Megahertz: Thank you very much...
Been there, done that. Tried all possible tweaks. All reinstallations were from newest installers. Nothing helps.
Slight increase in performance, i.e., slightly faster post boot system...
Thanks Megaherz,
But the speed lag (computer post-boot stabilisation after about 30 minutes) is not due to the hard disk but to the functioning of build 1903 itself. Indeed, problem only started...
Will do. Thanks.

247256247257Hi Dalchina!
Have done so - had already done about 1/3 of these tweaks before. None gave any appreciable results. It isn't after studying...
246990246991Hi again,
It's getting worse and has nothing to do with HD performance as you can see in the attached screenshots: system is gobbling up immense resources and power, and this has been...
Everything was in place to prevent updates for three days. I know all this, that's why I signalled it because it's unusual. But the 1903 update was a pain for lots and lots of users, not to mention...
Well, I cried victory too early. Despite the fact I had paused updates for three days counting from today, irrepressible Windows was up to its old update shenanigans. As I restarted the computer, to...
Many thanks. I will look up those threads.
Speed has increased quite considerably meanwhile, but I'll wait until tomorrow morning to see if things keep up. The USB stick problem remains...
Ah, well, the main HD is five years old...
The external has just been bought and is much faster indeed.
I'm thinking of buying an SSD to install the OS on. My Notebook is fully equipped with such...

Clean boot didn't show much difference. But... whether that Microsoft check (and probably scannow) did something good -...
Thanks!
I did anyway the DISM.EXE + scannow Microsoft check as explained on the mentioned page. Everything was okay... except scannow which came up with some corrupted (and meanwhile repaired)...
Hi out there,
Surprise, surprise! Since (painfully) updating to 1903: several new problems.
Two of the main ones:
When having any USB stick plugged in, boot is halted almost after startup....
Everything has been done. Constant backup on Google Drive. Drivers have been checked. All is okay. Thanks for taking care.

I would have recuperated some files accumulated in the Downloads folder, and also a Folder "Installs" where I keep... my installs execs (highly important because I have several installs for dedicated...
A complete reinstall.
I'm contemplating the idea of fitting an SSD into my desktop computer even a 512 one - and indeed transferring the OS on it (don't know why "users" shouldn't fit on it too)....
Deleting that indeed useless "Recover" partition, or at least reducing its size, would seem the thing to do because the whole problem of 1903 update aborting is due to partition 1 being slightly too...

[QUOTE=Megahertz;1709934]On a UEFI - GPT disk the boot loader is on a 100M Fat32 partition. On the disk images you posted I can see a Fat32 partition but I can't say if it is on your Win 10 disk as...
Since I got Ubuntu finally working, and found it useful indeed, I installed it alongside Windows (took some doing coz the first time around I was confronted with a grub rescue - got out of that with...
Thanks for the latest handholding!
Addenda to my previous message: I managed to start Ubuntu finally. Looks nifty but not as useful as Kyhi.
Macrium was present on kyhi. Saw one can make images...
Hi!
Some good news, some same news.
First, I do read your threads carefully. But some of them are a bit above my experience capabilities - or the explanations and suggestions do expect such...
So, what did you say? Please repeat.
That's probably the way ahead, but still a hassle. If only I could get a way to generate a C: prompt, I would try yet something else.
Never forget: it's the update that caused all the trouble. First...
