What if you had re-booted the router earlier in the process....?

The very first thing I tried was to swap ethernet cable between computer and switch. No change. And I had other computers on the same switch with the same cables that worked fine....

Same problem here.

Accidently rebooted my computer => a few pending updates was installed/activated. After that, no network connectivity and I get the "One or more network protocols.....".
