Should we all rush to install this for Intel CPUs?
No - I store downloaded software in D:/Downloads. I use drive C for Windows and installed programs except for large installations like games which I keep on a separate drive on my desktop PC. I like...
I checked back on the Group Policy timeout setting mentioned at the start of the thread but that has been removed.
FWIW I store portable programs in the folders where I archive downloaded software. I wouldn't use the Programs folder since I sometimes review that for installed programs I don't recognise.
Typical Microsoft - If it ain't broke then break it!
I always use the portable version too where possible - sometimes hard to find!
Implemented using an Artificial Idiot or an algorithm?
To restore a selected file / folder just mount the partition containing the data as a virtual drive and copy across the folder needed.
Did you try inserting the shortcut to Bluemail in folder C:\Users\{myname}\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
Did you try using Macrium Reflect Free to make the cloned drive?
You could run Wise Disk Cleaner to see what 'rubbish' it finds to delete which may be taking up that huge amount of space but take care what you permit it to delete.
Weird fault?
I prefer to use imaging rather than cloning. Make a backup image of the existing HDD (all partitions) to an external drive, install the new SSD then restore all partitions from the image to the new...
I just upgraded my 'non-compliant' 2014 Dell Inspiron 7537 laptop to Windows 11 using the appraiserres.dll fix. All works fine except I had to find a later Intel HD graphics driver to satisfy the...
Try replacing the CMOS battery normally a CR2032. These can suddenly fail or drop to a low voltage which can cause a PC to fail to boot.
If a laptop then remove the battery for a few minutes, replace and restart the PC.
Use a workaround for non-compliant hardware to upgrade to Windows 11 then!
This won't replace my pen and paper To Do list I can use immune from power cuts.
I did use MS Project before retiring which was very useful.
Beware of Artificial Idiots spouting Artificial Ignorance!
I only interact with people in 3D in the real world!
Is WinPatrol up to date?
OneDrive updates do this
I use DesktopOK to recover icon positions if they are shifted.
Download DesktopOK - MajorGeeks
That could have been solved by a clean install or recovery from backup.
