    Installed the update on my old, ancient test box. It took about 45 minutes, no surprises. I figure if it installs on this machine, it shouldn't be a problem on my others. (At least in theory. :))

    Not sure what causes it, but you're not alone. I've seen this bug since version 6 shipped, and on three OSs (XP, 7 and now 10). It happens to me about 1 in 10 times when I check for mail.

    I finally upgraded yesterday and the machine did...

    I finally upgraded yesterday and the machine did wind up with Pro as surmised. Only slowdown was I managed to do this on Patch Tuesday and so it updated right after the first clean boot. :)
