So chkdsk fixed the corrupted file error on my C: drive.
I tried using MiniTool Partition Wizard. No go. That tool also reported a bad block.
I read a few articles on how to fix track 0. They...
Seriously, it worked. I'm not going to bother with the old BIOS. I'm content with this.
It loads GRUB bootloader first because I have it dual booted but that's no big deal. Way better than having...
So hibernation works! Thanks so much.
I ran powercfg /h on. Then under, 'change what closing the lid does', I set it to hibernate.
I originally disabled hybrid sleep, fast startup, turn off hard disk after, and hibernation via power settings. When that didn't work I ran powercfg /h off.
I will try enabling hibernate now....
I missed the first part.
powercfg /a: The following states are avilable on this system.
Standby (S3)
Hibernate
Hybrid sleep
Fast startup
I have it set to sleep, disabled hibernation. Is hibernation okay to use with an SSD?
I'll check to see if there are sleep state settings in BIOS.
I ran powercfg -energy and it gave me a...
For now I'm going to just uninstall the Synaptics driver that keeps crashing. Then set it to 'do nothing' under 'change what closing the lid does'. I'll have to just remember to shut it down if I...
I tried running troubleshoot. It did not work.
I just read through that thread. It sounds like I need to reinstall windows after reverting to the A07 BIOS...... I don't feel like doing that....
Thanks. I'm going to read that now.
In event log it is reporting a bad block. "The device, /Device/Harddisk2, has a bad block".
I'm also getting a new error about a corrupted file on my C:...
Would something like Dban work?
I borrowed the SATA cable from my other drive. Swapped ports. No improvement.....
I tried reformating with another file type just to experiment. In Gparted it let me format to fat32. I tried to...
Okay, I will try swapping cables/ports and will report back.
Hi, I have multiple machines. This computer is a desktop that I built myself. It has been running smoothly for about a year. The drive in question is an internal 3TB Toshiba 3.5" HDD. It's connected...
I bought a second hand Dell Inspiron 3147. It's running the A12 BIOS. I can't for the life of me get it to wake from sleep.
I tried researching this issue but nothing seems to work. I have a...
Earlier today I attempted to transfer some data from one HDD to another. At exactly 78% of the way through, it gave me an error, "the destination you have specified does not exist". Then the drive...
Here is a pic of my XBMC pi. It was my first pi project. I built the stand for it. Cut down some scraps of polycarbonate and added some misc hardware that was sitting in my basement.
I'm working...
I'd like to be involved in the pi thread. Once I'm done with this LED light, I'd like to try building something new. Looks like there is a lot of good info in there. Thanks.
Ideally, I would love to get it working again. Not so much that I need the touchscreen but rather I like fixing things.
I found a way to disable the touchscreen in Ubuntu. I added a command to...
Thanks for the info.
Not sure I'm up to taking apart the screen. If the problem persists I might chance it and try and get back there.
I have one of the raspberry pi originals. I turned it...
Thanks for the response.
The screen appears to be glass.
I feel the issue must be related to the touchscreen because when I had it enabled, it made a little circle every time I touched the...
No one has any thoughts on this.....
It did it yesterday in linux but hasn't done it again in windows 10 since I disabled the touchscreen. I'm thinking it has to be a hardware issue.
I read...
I have a Samsung Laptop. It has a touchscreen. Randomly it has this really annoying problem. The screen with start zooming in and out. There are these little circles that pop up everywhere. It starts...
Okay, thanks for the info. At least I didn't waste an hour trying.
Okay thanks for the help. I'm tempted to try but I also have feeling it will reject the upgrade.
What about this idea. What if I swap the drive and then install Vista Business on the new drive...
