After much surfing I uninstalled Kaspersky 2015. As soon as so-doing, my WLAN card sprang into life. Then an upgrade to Kaspersky v16 and all is still well with the world (wide web).

Dell. I suspect it's the wireless aerial. T'was all part of the original set up. I think that unless I can find a replacement/original driver that works on Windows 10, I'll need to buy a Windows 10...
It only links to the wireless card in the PC. And worked every day until the point I uninstalled the driver
I have a Dell Desktop that has wireless connectivity via a small device that plugs into the back of the PC. It has always worked and it is controlled by the Dell driver I uninstalled.
Having uninstalled the driver and then restarted, the driver appears to have been reinstalled. Although Windows states that "This device is working properly." I cannot connect to the internet...
No driver updates since upgrading to Windows 10. The updates have covered security updates, general for x64-based, Windows Defender (one of which failed to install and so I've re-run and all is OK),...
I'm a bit reluctant to remove the driver on the basis that I'd need to be online for Windows to install it.

Device Manager => Network Adapters => Dell Wireless 1505...... => right click => Update Driver Software.....
My Dell Wireless Driver (1505 Draft 802.11n WLAN Mini-Card) has the most up to date driver installed (according to a windows search). Driver version is 5.100.245.200
Zip file uploaded. As far as I know, this has only occurred once since upgrading to Windows 10.
