Have an Excel 2016 file with the same issue (freezes on save), in Win10 build 10547. I'll be interested to see if reinstalling Excel helps.

Supposedly, that patch is KB3074683, which I received on 27 July; however, my build number still shows simply 10240, rather than the hashed out 10240.16405.150725-1815.th1.
