does this KB restore the uCode update which was removed with the FCU upgrade?
@kado897, @JohnBurns, @essenbe
did you guys update the BIOS with the newer uCodes released by Intel? If that's the case then it's normal to be protected even under 17134.1 because that protection...
unfortunately this major update removes the kb4090007 which was released as optional by MS, therefore losing the spectre protection given by the uCode update. Hope MS restores that or includes uCode...

well "easily" is definitely not the word i'd use. Sure using ubu tool is just a matter of making the right choices on the keyboard but it's what comes after that's more delicate. For...
Glad to see MS resumed its work on this KB. I thought they had stopped after supporting only the last few CPUs made by intel, when actually it seems they were testing more and (probably) making sure...
lol...ppl on the net have become so addicted to 0day news and such that 5 days (including a weekend) may actually seem like an eternity to someone :P

from what i can see in that pdf of yours Intel has by all means released updated uCodes to the public and to OEMs for some of the most common cpus out there such as the sandy and ivy bridge...
wasn't MS releasing uCode updates through KB4090007? Does anyone know why they stopped updating the file to include more CPUs? They supported only the last 3 gens of Intel CPUs...what about the rest?...
so by upgrading to SCU you get an updated uCode for older CPUs but not for newer ones? How...how is that possibile? Shouldn't all uCodes available at the date of SCU release be included in the OS?
slightly OT: did MS stop with the uCode release through KB update? They were updating KB4090007 and adding other CPUs but they suddenly stopped. Latest file update is March 9. Does anyone know why?...
thx for the answer fdegrove. Looks like we'll have to keep our eyes open for any future update regarding the uCode and see how MS will push 'em. It'll get kinda tricky to match the right KB update to...
If I got this right, MS said they will update this KB (4090007) with other CPU uCodes as they become available. Their exact words are "We will offer additional microcode updates from Intel thru this...
That's just the software used to update the microcode. Its latest version is dated 2016, nothing to worry about. What matters is the actual microcode data, which is provided and updated regularly by...
thanks for the prompt reply tomcat. Unfortunately, at the time of writing, Asus has yet to release a Bios Update for my mobo. I'm highly doubtful it will ever happen, but remain hopeful nonetheless....
I see a lot of ppl reporting just their patch's install experience, which is fine. Unfortunately no one is shedding some light on the bigger question: is this patch enough for people to be reasonably...
I've tried a few tweaks, hints and advices, but nothing seems to work. My pc (running w10 FCU Enterprise) won't find cumulative updates. Every other update it finds, downloads and installs fine..but...
then where do they come from? And why do some have 'em while others don't? Are they version-dependent?
Hmm that's weird coz i don't have any of those options. Mine looks exactly like the screenshot i posted earlier. Could it be stuff reserved for windows insider users or something? You know it's kinda...
oh that ain't my screenshot dmholt57 :D just the first img i found on the web to ask Bree if that was what he was talking about.
Anyhoo i tried defering updates, resuming, unchecking updates for...
Thank you for your answer Bree. When you say "WU's advanced settings" do you mean these ones?
So if I understood you correctly I should tick/enable those options (except the metered connections one)...
Hi guys. I'm not sure if this is the right section for this thread, otherwise mods please feel free to move this, thanks.
Anyway, I'll get straight to the point, hoping some kind one can help me....
Pardon my french but this is un-****ing-believable! I just tried that and it works..it frickin works! What on earth does the taskbar and its auto-hiding feature have to do with windows login...
I hear you man. Unfortunately there's not much else we can do other than waiting for Ms to, hopefully, fix it with the next batch of updates. Let's hope one of them addresses this and the many other...
There seems to be no solution to this yet, and i've searched a lot. I was hoping that new cumulative updated released yesterday which updates the build number to 10586.11 would make somewhat of a...
