MY MISTAKE to say that the entries and not the extensions are hidden.

However - I did NOT change the 'hide' settings, and I DID delete the extensions.
In Folder Options; View tab 'Show...

I did NOT change the setting for 'hide' - in any case 'hiding' applies to the entire entry, not just the extension.

I DID manually truncate all those entries by DELETING the extension.

Under NAMES it shows my truncated entries.
