I will check out Sumatra.
Thank you for your help. I am going to mark this as solved and uninstall CDisplayEx. If the problem returns, I will come back to this thread and post again.

My system is around 7 years old, but as long as the hardware isn't failing, then the problem is probably a matter of finding what software needs to go. I have a likely candidate...
I downloaded...
I'll give it a whirl. I'll post again sometime tomorrow with a situation update.
I use a program called Open Hardware Monitor to keep track of things like processor activity, temps and memory usage. I haven't been running low on RAM.
I am running Windows 10 Pro x64 on a desktop PC.
I never used to have to do this. Sometime after last major windows update, certain windows features like File Explorer, and Media Player would...
I frequently use One Note to type stuff, like shopping lists, on my desktop and then be able to look at it on my phone. However, now the desktop info is no longer updating to either the web version I...
Currently using Macrium Reflect to back up both existing Storage Spaces to an external HDD that was mostly empty, but will be significantly less empty when the back-up is done. It will be around...
Thank you. That does sound nifty, but I would want to keep the key around as well. Just in case.
I will probably set that up on my PC sometime in the next couple of days.
Noted. I'll admit I have only been relying on the USB option, I never explored the Boot menu option.
I am pretty sure you still need the USB key handy. Selecting the Boot menu option simply tells your computer what boot media to look for, you still have to have said media plugged in for it to find.
Is there a way to set location where Edge stores it's cache'd files - I would like to have them stored on a RAMdisk. This was simple to do a couple of builds ago, but if the option is still...
When I assign it a drive letter, it prompts me to format the volume. I did not do this out of fear that some of the data in other spaces might get wiped out.
The drive now appears in File...
Several years ago I purchased 2 refurbished Hitachi drives, installed them in my PC and used Windows Storage Space feature to configure them as a Storage Pool with 1 Simple Space and 1 Mirrored Space...
Started using Chromium based Edge (dev channel) a couple of weeks ago, and I love it. I use it for nearly all of my web browsing now.
This worked nicely, thank you.
For whatever reason, right clicking from within the folder itself would not give me a re-location option, but right clicking from the File Explorer window as...
A long time ago, I both moved my various Library folders (Documents, Music, Pictures and Videos) into my OneDrive folder, and re-located my OneDrive folder from my System drive to a different drive...
Thank you. Using Radeon RAMDisk, and so far, so good
The same problem re-surfaced, preventing me from updating or installing MS Store apps. I believe the culprit is software I installed called ImDisk, gotten from here https://imdisk.en.lo4d.com - which...
There were even more problems than what I originally posted. For instance the Windows Update troubleshooter I downloaded from a MS site, ran and said it was fixed (or maybe found no problems to fix,...
no suggestions?
I should also add that I ran both DISM and SFC /scannow, and found no issues
I did a refresh on my Windows 10 desktop the other day, to see if it would free up space on my boot drive by eliminating stuff I didn't use. That seems to have worked, but I am getting errors in...
is it normal for Windows Search Filter Host to be active (~ 20% CPU use of my quad-core CPU) for hours after updating?
edit: actually it fluctuates from around 10% to 20% CPU usage

Tom's Hardware also has article on this
I think Bleeping Computer has done fair coverage of this. Also recommend reading comment section after article.
