OK so I have 3 systems. Two of them took the latest version update well, the third would not. Other people have been having problems also.

I tried it all bro. 4 pages of links and scans. All of it tells me everything is fine but it took 2 restarts to get things right this morning. First no settings button. Then no start menu at all....

The screens I see when I follow the instructions in the link don't match the screenshots in the tutorial. I used the proper drive letters which in my case is C: for the boot drive...
Nice. Thanks for the very useful information but it does not solve the problem. Even after the latest update the settings button still disappears once and a while and sometimes the whole start menu...
Did not change a thing. In fact, the what the tutorial said to do did not work at all. Don't sweat it. If things don't change soon I'm going back to 7.

Thanks I'll let you know how it works but I shouldn't have to do it at all and having to put a addition in my context menu to solve a problem that shouldn't exist is not acceptable.

Wow this is getting frustrating... Now the Start menu won't pop up at all. It only happens once and a while and a restart solves the problem but, come on already...:(
OK it's back. Just D/L'ed the latest update from Microsoft and it's back. So strange.

No, it does not. It was the first thing I tried.
It's not that people can't find the simple built in controls to activate or deactivate these items. It's that they are GONE and NOTHING you click brings them back. Example... The, "Settings" button...
