I did exactly that, changed the user name and password on the server to match the Windows one. Result: I still have to enter the password after every reboot. This is ridiculous :banghead:
Yes, of course.
I've got an Unraid server and one of it's SMB shares is mapped as a drive on my Windows PC. What has been annoying me for quite some time is the fact that Windows keeps asking for the password after...
Just a quick feedback. I successfully created a system image and it looks like everything went as expected. I did a sector by sector copy simply to be on the safe side and Macrium compressed the 450...
Ah. In this case I wish you luck :-)
Why not simply pre-order one and wait your turn? Looks like the most promising strategy to me right now.
Thanks but like I wrote I don't trust Microsoft's encryption. They are legally bound to cooperate with US government agencies.
And look what happened to secure boot: Microsoft's "Golden Key" Leak...
Yeah, that's what I thought too. It shouldn't take too long though as the drive is only 500 GB.
I use a laptop with a Veracrypt encrypted system drive (yes I know I could use Bitlocker but no, I don't trust Microsoft when it comes to encryption). Now I want to create an image of the drive using...
At the moment it does not improve performance in any meaningful way. It's more of a thing that will or will not be beneficial in the future.
By the way, what's your issue with Windows 2004? I...
I own a 3800X instead of a 3600 but my temps are exactly the same as yours, fluctuation between 40 and 50 degrees while idle. I use a AIO water cooler meaning cooling is definitely not an issue. 40 -...
Well sleep has always been problematic, I already learned this back in the Windows 95 days. Every other time the system would not wake up. That's why I always disable sleep. And it has been the same...
In this case I'd love to be wrong, let me know if you find a way to "fix" it.
Did you apply the 2004 Windows upgrade? Any driver updates? Maybe a bios update? Basically whenever something on the hardware/ driver level changes Windows re-detects the device and since such a...
Well on my machines it has always worked and I've been a paying customer with multiple PCs for years. Plus to my knowledge it's the only software that does what the OP want's. The only solution I can...
Use the program Sandboxie (which is now open source by the way). It let's you configure in detail what data is retained when you close the sandbox.
On my system 15.5.6 has indeed fixed the issues. In my case these were the Caps Lock and Num Lock issues as well as the sound issues.
Have you tried the Audio workaround(s) explained on the VMWare forums? The links are in one of my earlier posts in this thread. At least on my machine these workarounds fixed all the sound issues.
@supermammalego I think your suggestion is less than optimal. First of all there is no guarantee that Windows does not simply re-install Edge with an update when it realizes that the Edge path is...
Yes, that workaround has actually fixed the Caps Lock and Num Lock issues for me. It's nice of them to provide a workaround in a timely manner. However it would have been better to thoroughly test...
It's not your environment, it's 15.5.5. There is a Caps Lock issue, a Num Lock issue and a sound issue. As nice as the new coexistence of Workstation and Hypver-V is, they surely f..... up quality...
According to my knowledge VMWare Workstation prior to 15.5.5 and Hyper-V never worked together, no matter what version of Windows 10 was used.
Version 15.5.5 introduces a sound bug. There is a fix which includes adding a line to the .vmx file of the corresponding virtual machine. More info can be found in on the VMware forums: Sound...
If he can still return the PC I stronly suggest returning it and getting something with better specs. If you can go shopping with him. My recommendation would be a modern non mobile CPU with at least...
