As months pass, I see additional instances of Edge running in Task Manager. Even after following the instructions to Toggle "Off" everything, there are now 11 instances of Edge...
I'm amazed Microsoft is still putting out improvements for an Operating System that's on its way to extinction. Maybe the Windows-10 team has a nostalgic affection for Windows10, and can't simply...
How is it that Windows 10 still requires basic fixes, like you'd see in a new Operating System? Amazing.
I just did this on my Win-10 machine because after re-imaging my hard drive (keeping all the files), there are several updates that can't be installed by the system. It starts then gives up, saying...
This update is using 200mb of RAM and consuming 98% of my Hard Drive memory to install, but this is a 2009 stock HP Pavilion Desktop with no hardware upgrades. Keeps me rooted with how things used...
Thankyou for sharing that comparison. I have Win10 on a PC and Win11 on a PC, but have never compared the display color and clarity. I just know I like Windows 10 more than Windows 11, due to how...

Edge updated today and now the Process called "Utility: Network Service" keep using CPU, causing the little blue "busy" indicator to come on for a split second, every 2 seconds, right...
Updating my 2009 Windows HP Desktop Pavillion now. Maybe one day, I'll be able to upgrade this P.C. to Windows 11, like the 2 other Windows laptops in the household are.
But strangely, there...

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread. The KB4023057 just appeared and installed on my PC in less than a minute. I think it gets tweaked/updated by Microsoft and pushed...
I just got that one too. Interestingly, a search of the internet on "KB5010415" turns up only 3 results, and none of them in English. Very strange.
Downloaded/Installed in under 10 minutes (along with Framework and Malicious Remover). Preparing to restart. Hopefully the Frequently Used Programs will reappear, as this fix says they're supposed...
Windows-10 still performing basic functionality updates, 6 years after its debut.
Am I wrong for being amazed and perplexed?
Thank-you for this thread. I thought I was seeing things, when Windows Update wanted to download the same Cumulative update today that it did a couple days ago.
My 2010 HP Pavilion desktop updated to this latest Windows-10 version today. Will check to see if its worth circumventing the rule that won't let me update this PC to Windows 11.
But to be...
I joined the Windows Insider club today and Windows-11 downloaded/installed on my laptop.
The menus and OS in general are more pleasing visually than Windows 10.
But other than a higher...
Same here for my 2009 HP Pavilion Desktop...all original equipment. Still chugging along!
Thank-you for the thorough/detailed response, Jimbo!
I'm going to take the easy way out and trade in the 2009 HP Pavilion Desktop for a newer model. Its age is showing more and more as new...
Thank-you. I guess my 2010 HP Pavilion Desktop will have to continue running Windows-10.
In 2010, the required "Trusted Platform Module" had not been invented yet.
An "EMERGENCY" update that was able to wait until a convenient release time...like a TUESDAY afternoon.
OK Microsoft, LOL. ;)
Since it's the second Tuesday of the month, Microsoft had to push out "something", even if that something is just a minor tweak of some kind. Right? Reputation to uphold.
At my home. 3 computers running Windows 10.
2 Months-old Laptops
1 Desktop from 2010 (HP Pavilion)
The download and install was relatively fast, like a regular monthly update.
But, the 2...
Its interesting comparing all the responses today, to these update threads 2 years ago. Microsoft seems to have finally reached a point where updates are "friendly and trouble-free" for almost...
My Windows/Microsoft Store has 35 apps that download and install every day, if I have the updates/install set to Automatic. Needless to say, I have updates set to "manual".
Back to searching...
Thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread. I was getting frustrated trying to figure out how to drag my home SSID up to the top of the list of SSID's I've connected to while traveling.

Why does Microsoft not include a clickable link for users to see what's in the update? Doing so would help users decide to download, or not to download, any Optional update.
All updates in...
