Okay thanks for that:
Used the cmd line in Win 10.
Got to Troubleshoot>Advanced Options>StartUp Repair
I have been there several times before.
It said it would put a log files in the F drive...
Okay let's try, but please spell out how to do that.
Start from OFF?
Switch ON whilst holding Shift Key?
Or Boot into 10 and go to Troubleshoot??
Sorry but not clear.
Just looked and it says Legacy which I expected it to as the Metro icons have gone.
How do you get them back BTW?
I assume the Boot menu I attached was taken just before I changed to legacy....
Yes fast boot is disabled.
Did cmd> powercfg /H off...no difference
Not sure how you are seeing that bootmenupolicy is standard...as the Metro icons have gone and now the windows choice is just...
That’s what I have been thinking all along. I can’t see what is the error in the boot menus. I am wondering if this Dell stores a setup in its “Bios?”
I can confirm the XP is a 32 bit version....
I swopped the HDD for the one cloned a few days ago before I started to try to fix this boot problem. It exhibits the same problem but at least it shows the 3 versions of Windows at boot up. ...

Before EasyBCD did its worst it worked like this...
Boot into Win 10 works well.
Selecting Win 7 or Win XP on what I think is called the Metro screen and the PC goes back to the Bios...
Yes I ran EasyBCD (and all the other helper apps) from Win 10. That’s the only one that I can get to boot.

If you are unable to get access to the attachment on #5 then I assume others can’t which might explain why I have had little reaction to my post.
The attachment was a pdf but I will...
Hi spunk,
Yes I've previously done repairs to both XP and 7 plus chkdsk etc.
At your suggestion I tried EasyBCD (BTW you don't need to register to do a download) and it gave me 2 more bootloader...
spunk
As I mentioned above I have tried several apps like Easy BCD but I still get a Boot Manager Menu that shows (to me at least) all the windows boot loader versions …but fails to boot to 7 or XP....
Thanks Samuria but that YT video shows just one of the many things I've been trying which hasn't worked.
And the MS article shows a Boot Manager which has Boot Loader sections similar to what I...
Not sure if this will work.

OMG Don't know how that second pic got there and can't find an easy way to delete it.
Not sure if this is the correct sub-section but I trust the admins will move it if necessary.
I have an old Dell Optiplex 755 SFF which had installed Windows XP Pro, Windows 7 Pro (64 bits) and...
