Thanks sciencegeek for the response, but all is running now. I don't have a lot of confidence so I will try that if this problem reoccurs.
I should also add, the mount was successful using the following net use command, it still doesn't show up in the map network hard drive wizard:
net use z: \\Path\to\share\folder /user:USERNAME

Quick update,
Managed to map the NAS drive on my Ubuntu homeserver, my android can see this share aswell, windows is still refusing to acknowledge its existence, even with the regedit trick.

Restarting didn't solve it either. It also doesn't explain why it used to work when I first upgraded but doesn't now.
