Nvidia drivers are okay, turns out there was some audio processing system tray applet that was a troublemaker

I found it is not the video driver but it is some poorly written applets, DFX or FXsound that gobbled up and leak memory and occupied the CPU for no reason!

The oddity is that these 3rd party items been around for years, fairly known and I have used them.
It looks more and more that any such audio processing apps are resource hogs for whatever reason...

Since you mentioned that you had not so good experience with so-called service technicians, why don't you open your desk top and do some basic checking. Such as which fan exactly you hear....

You need to provide more information.
Could be your BCD [boot configuration data] got damaged.
