The origianl card is soldered into the motherboard, it will be very difficult to remove (I don't have the right tools).

Indeed, I have Rogers gigabit. I called HP Canada earlier this morning and they said my PC warranty is expired (lol) and they charge $50 for a one time troubleshooting (without guarantee) over phone....

My ISP provides higher speed than advertised, one of the agent on live chat said its sending 1200mbps through my modem which would be accessible...

1. My ISP provides 1200mbps for my plan, so I wanted to make full use of it

2. The inbuilt LAN port caps at 930-940 mbps, so i wanted to see if I could use a faster card

You might be right, in the bios slot 1 says x1, but for hardware that slot has x16 attached (which my cable is connected to). Any suggestions what I can change/if I can change?

Yes, the router supports gigabit. I am getting gigabit speed with my inbuilt network card. I don't have duplex enabled, only auto negotiation.

I changed it to 2.5gbps full duplex but it's still 100mbps sadly
