1 - Errata corrige. For the sake of completeness, I'll rephrase what I said about the Deleted subfolder. All removed app packages are always moved to the Deleted subfolder. This is very clear from...
Hi,
I recently had an issue like yours, i.e. an orphaned package left behind after removing an app. In my case it was the Phone app.
The following did the job:
Remove-AppxPackage -Package...
Yes, I noticed that packages are sometimes temporarily moved to the Deleted subfolder, which appears to work as a bin. Sometimes they disappear after a day, sometimes after a couple of weeks. The...
Hi Dimitri,
that's actually good news, as it suggests that what we are doing is ok. As I said, it is the first time I see this strange behaviour and the fact you can't reproduce the issue means that...
Hello,
it has been long time since my last post.
First of all, I have to congrat with Dimitri for the impressive work. Well done, really!
I'm posting two updates on the topic.
1 - Goog news...
Even though I am not a Microsoft engineer, I do have the answer to this one. :p The thing is: what you call All Apps is not All Apps!
First of all, let me recall that an app is something different...
Hello Dimitri and Paul,
a few (three) updates.
FIRST - as I said at the end of my previous post, the apps removed with the proper commands won't re-appear even after a feature update.
I...
Hello again,
I see you guys reply quickly! Not sure I can keep pace. :p
Anyway, I'll try to reply a bit at a time.
No difference for the end user, you're absolutely right. Just curious at...
Hello ddelo and Paul Black,
sorry for the late reply and welcome to the quest for the best way to uninstall provisioned apps. :p

First of...
Just to add my experience. Eddy's solution works for me as well. I've been using it on a old HP external HDD. That prevents spin down until the firmware sleep time kicks in.
Cheers,
Mark
I wouldn't advise touching that folder. Its modification leads to undefined behaviour.
Thank you very much for your contribution, but I'd like to say focused on the orginal topic. I just wanted to...
Hello Brink,
in the meanwhile I tried again with a few more apps, and option 6 keeps failing for me. It really looks like we're getting a consistently different behaviour.
System language,...
Sorry, maybe I wasn't clear enough. In step 1 I suggest to create ONE user only. I see you start with 2 users.
I suggested so because I see the error after the app has been uninstalled for that user...
So we have at least part of the solution.
On my machine, I see packages moved to Deleted as soon as they are updated or uninstalled. After a while (matter of days) Deleted gets emptied....
I definitely agree. I saw several scripts on the web using commands like the one you give in the tutorial, which is a sign it works for many. But I also saw more than one user who encountered...
That's a good question. Based on my limited experience, I would be tempted to say yes - it doesn't work for me without bundle. But it's also true that you managed to successfully remove XboxApp...
A few more updates.
1 - Hello Brink. Nice you added option 12 in the tutorial, and thank you for providing a link to this thread. I think it is good to keep this sub-topic separated, so that the...
Sorry, that can't work, because you're searching for neutral after quering without -PackageTypeFilter. That is: you retrieve only Main and Framework packages and then you search the ones with an...
Further update.
Brink, I have a theory to justify the different behaviour between my machine and yours. That's system language.
I guess your system language is English. In that case, it can be...
*** SECTION ONE ***
*** Introduction ***
In this post I will explain how to completely remove a Metro-style app (or Modern app or Windows app) from a Windows 10 machine. All tests have been...
Little update: even in the case of a single user, adding -AllUsers to Remove-AppxPackage does make a difference. I've been testing it for the last weeks, and this is what I see:
Completely uninstall...
Hello again,
yup, -AllUsers was part of the problem indeed. Funny it works like that for you... it doesn't for me!
Anyway, this is what I see:
Completely uninstall provisioned apps: how-to and...
Hello Brink,
and thank you for trying that out.
I spent the last two weeks on this problem. Until two days ago I didn't have a clue why it was not working. Then yesterday, after long researching...
Hello Feuer,
thanks for your reply.
Sure it's well known you're not supposed to play around with the content of %ProgramFiles%. That's even more true for %ProgramFiles%\WindowsApps. There's a...
Hello Brink,
after some testing, I'm afraid there's something wrong with option 6 in the tutorial (option 7 really is the same as option 6). Just as a reference, I'm trying to remove the XboxApp. It...
