Yes, I have bitlocker.......
I thought this would be nice and straightforward as it has been on my other machines.......hey ho!
Kids are home now so I'll have to try the other options you...
Yes, it now sees the disk with the win10 system but when I try and run the DISM command to capture the image it fails with error 0x80310000
That seems to work...........thanks :D
Sorry, copied was the wrong term!
I'm using Rufus to create bootable USB
I'll try again with your revised ISO
OK, so I copied the files from your ISO to a USB stick but it isn't recognized in the boot menu of the laptop.
Thoughts?
Ah great, thanks
Yes, I read the Dell link, but not every word/character as wasn't at the stage to follow it through.
Thanks for the clarification
"F6 drivers".......?
My problem is I can't get to the part to create a windows image unless I know which volume/disk it is

Thanks for the link.
Will this work when booting from a recovery USB? Following Kari tutorial you don't get as far as that stage when trying to just capture a system image.
I've been using this tutorial successfully for a few years to image my old Samsung laptop but now have a problem using it on my Dell XPS.........
I had the disk swapped out by Dell under warranty...
Thanks all for the advice.
After waiting ten days for Dell to get round to swapping the disk out I now have a functioning laptop again.
I do have another issue now but that relates to a tutorial so...
Thanks SIW2, very useful link.
I already have ccleaner just never realised it could wipe free space too!
Sounds like a plan - thanks
Another thought -
There's an option to reset my PC in the Dell utilities which says it will reset my PC to it's original factory setup.
Would this be the most straightforward way to get rid of...
Yes, that's true but it's under warranty so I'm not paying for it.
If i was replacing it myself I wouldn't worry but it is being changed by Dell under warranty and they have told me they will take the old drive away with them
Looks like Minitools Partition Magic might be what I need as it will do a secure delete of a single partition using it's "wipe" function.
I guess I could move any other files on the OS partition...
What's "trim"
Thanks Paulblack
Even if I delete the partition and extend the win10 partition does that not still leave the original data potentially recoverable? I'd always assumed unless you overwrote the disk...
My 2Tb SSD is failing and I have a Dell guy coming on Monday to replace it.
I have a data partition which is all fully backed up and in dropbox but I want to securely delete all the data on this...
Why does URL text say "Security check"? I didn't type that in!
No, it was on the Ubiquiti support site - Security check
Right, finally had a chance to look at all this today.
1. Deleted and recreated Win10 VPN client connection
2. Shutdown laptop
3. Rebooted ISP router
4. Rebooted UDM Pro
5. Tried to connect...
