Finally found the solution,just in time too because I swear I was about to go insane.

Right click on desktop > Power and sleep > Additional power settings > Choose when to turn off the display >...

Before the update I had it set to an hour of inactivity before it would go into sleep mode and I never had a problem with it but from the moment I updated it has always been like this.

Ever since i downloaded windows 10 my lenovo idea pad will go to sleep after only 3 minutes of inactivity. Iv'e gone into the setting and changed it to what I want but no matter what I do it it stays...
