Thanks again to all who took the time to reply with help.
Ghot has very sensibly suggested that I make a note of my BIOS settings. My next question is, how do I access the BIOS settings?
I've been having problems with my 12 year old Acer Aspire M3910 desktop. As far as I know the battery is still ok, but getting old so worth a swap. My date and time settings are correct at present....
Thanks for all of your replies. I did think it might be another component that is causing the SSDs to fail very early. I have a new Corsair PSU in the box, is it a good idea to try swapping it as a...

I'm not really a pc person, but I've had a problem with my Acer Aspire M3910 desktop that's been going on for 2 months. It comes and goes. It's the worst sort of problem because it's not always...
Thanks all for your replies and help. Sounds like nothing on Pro will be much interest to me, I don't even understand the above terms for the extras you get or what they do.
Really stupid...
I've been using Win 10 Home ever since it came out and been very happy with it. I may need to buy a replacement for my 12 year old desktop, and the new PCs come with 10 Pro.

Thanks for your reply. I've been happy with desktops and the LG screen on VGA connection for 17 years, so it's no problem carrying on that way if I can. Don't really want to junk a perfectly good...
My old LG Flatron L1960TR screen is going strong after many years of use. However, my 12 year old Acer desktop is proving a little troublesome in the last year or two. If I change my pc to something...
Thanks for your reply Catnip. I think you are along the right lines. The symptoms are very similar to the last two occasions the SSDs failed. The first new SSD (which replaced the old mechanical HD)...
Hello Dalchina

1) I have checked the settings in battery action settings. All are the same as yours in...
Thanks for youre reply Samuria. That Geekom looks great, but will set me back £400 with the postage. Then I'll need to change my monitor as it's only got VGA connections. Then change my new PS2 mouse...
My Acer Aspire M3910 desktop is 11 years old. In the last 3 years the SSD HD has been replaced twice and the onboard graphics card has failed and been replaced with a seperate one that plugs into the...
Sorry Dalchina. It's a 2021 - only 2 years old. Typing mistake. Have corrected op.
My 2021 Acer Aspire laptop used to warn me when battery is very low when I first had it. Now for some reason it just shuts down without warning. I looked at the battery setting and the warning is set...
Thanks for all the info. I'll have a look through. So I'm guessing cloning onto a new SSD isn't the way to do it?

In 2020 my friend swapped my pc's original HDD for a new SSD. At the same time he made three CD discs with Macrium Reflect image on. It's these three discs he tried to use when he changed the failed...
Recently my 3 year old SSD in my Acer M3910 desktop stopped working. Unfortunately we were unable to make the system image discs work, so had to start from scratch with a new SSD and Windows...
Thanks for your suggestions for cards. I just wanted to check compatability. Have checked the specs for my pc and the PCIe slots are 2.0 x8 - which if I understand right can handle 4 GB/s. So I'm...
I have uninstalled the Startech/Etron driver and re-installed the 3.0 PCIE card connected to the SATA power connector. When I fired up my pc, once again there was no internet connection. Network...
Just to confirm - do you think I should uninstall the Startech/Etron software and re-install the card and see if it works with the drivers that are already installed with Win10? Is it possible...
Thanks for your reply, Megahertz. Yes, I bought a SATA cable and used a spare SATA on the PSU's wiring.
