Basically, chkdsk repairs what it can, then flags (marks), bad areas of the drive so Windows won't use those parts, anymore. :-)

Most use 3rd party backup software. Which, comes in real handy at times like this.

MS upgrades you to Win 11... no problem... just restore from your Win 10 backup.

This topic is just to summarize your upgrade options...



Your choices...

1. Upgrade through Windows Update
2. Upgrade through In-Place Upgrade
3. Clean Install.

Windows 10 and Windows 11 are like siblings... (pretty much the same)
If your Win 10 is running clean and tight... just "upgrade".

If you want a fresh start, do a clean install.

It's always best to use a matched two-stick set of RAM.

Sell the Corsair stuff... or return it... and get the Crucial stuff I linked in post #18

Setting up RAM on a prebuilt computer is HARD. Companies like HP and DELL, don't want you to mess around in the BIOS.

Unless you seriously crank the RAM voltage... you won't break anything. Any other incorrect settings will just cause a fail to boot.
