Denis,
Setting my pw for Ellary was the solution. I now boot to my desk top.
Thanks for all of your help. It was very informative.

Sorry, but I'm confused. You said:
"Once you have taken that precaution, you should use NetPlwiz again to

3 then you can use NetPlwiz again...
Sorry, but Option 1 step 3 of which tutorial?
How do I undo the automatic logon I set up? When I display netplwiz all I can do is use ctl-alt-delete. Problem is I don't remember my current pw. It's not what I thought I set up. If I check the box...
I do have additional info: when the PC boots and says the username or pw is incorrect it highlights the blank icon in the lower left corner. When I click on the icon with my photo it asks for my pin.
It shows an administrator with my name as user and a guest.
What is I entered the wrong user name when I entered the password in the netplwiz dialog, like my email address? How would I fix that or...
I've had a pin set up for a while and wanted to get rid of it. I followed some instructions I found and decided to set up an automatic logon. Now things are worse. I admit I don't know what I'm doing...

Got it. Off to the monitor graveyard then, what!:chuckle:

Sorry, but that doesn't appear without a password.
So I would need a work around.
I recently had to reinstall Windows. I've never used a password on my desktop PC.
I can boot to my desktop. But settings hides functionality without a password.
So is there a way to get windows to...
