I've switched to Chromium temporally and disabled the Google updater apps and - touch wood - I've not had a crash since I last posted. Not saying it's fixed, or was chrome, but for me I'm seemingly...
In safe mode I've rebooted and sometimes windows says it's attempting to fix problems/repair computer, then it bsods with sometimes the old irql_not_less_or_equal but usually with the error Driver...
8 hours a day for several days in a row
It's all folders across all drives though, like all photo folders, all video folders, everything. So strange. Anyway, onward with a 4th attempt at driver verifier!
Just for further info, I crashed again today, and it was after I'd thumbnailed a folder of films. After reboot I find all thumbnails have to be regenerated - is this normal?
Ok, so I had yet another crash, was in Chrome yet again, nothing strenuous happening.
I had the driver verifier going but turned it off about an hr ago so I could actually use the computer, damn.

Sorry to sound stupid, but what am I looking for in the minidump that tells you whats the problem but also doesn't tell you what's wrong? Is the dump saying a hardware driver is at fault, but not...
Ah ok, I wondered why parts of the post was bolded and this .dll singled out. I'm not really sure what to do further with this info
Thanks for the details; are you saying pshed.dll is to blame?
Got it, thanks. I guess I'll have to run that again and how it does something during the next week or so, though it didn't cause one for the last three times. Surely if it's crashing something should...
Done. With driver verifier, does it not produce any output save trying to force a crash which can then be picked up in a minidump?
Same-no issue before on machine for 2yrs, not overclocked-'stock' everything. Thought it might be heat but no warnings and happens when relatively cool.
I think I took that cumulative update yesterday and sadly nothing happened, then today it did so again.
Frustrating as the reboot is incredibly slow and pc so sluggish for a while after I power...
I, OP, definitely don't get a BSOD. Infact, I don't get any *SOD at all, just an instant power off and boot procedure begins, no bsod, no errors, no shutting down, nothing.
Crash is like the...
I updated the BIOS last week, just in case.
Running the Driver Verifier tool now, it seemed to load the cpu up pretty well, but now my laptop is idling away doing nothing, should it be stressing the...
Uploaded in requested way :)
Had my next one just now - same instant reboot while I was in Chrome with Lightroom running pretty hard in the background updating my image catalog. I did note that when it started up again it said...
Oh darn, I didn't think about that, I have, yes. Guess I'll have to wait for it to crash a few more times before re-running the log collector tool, thanks for the info!
As titled, I'm getting random, instant reboots after I've installed the Fall Creators Update.
I'm all backed up via Macrium & Syncbackpro, no illegal soft installed, win 10 pro, and have recently...
Exactly. I think this thread could be two pages shorter if the original post was read correctly. Shame ms did this, it's so annoying!
Right. But I don't want to open with Notepad as I stated in the op- I want to keep opening with ST3 but revert to the default txt file icon.
I've tried registry edits, tiny apps, but nothing seems to work.
I'd really like the default .txt file icon back, but I use Sublime Text 3 to open them by default, and thus this app's icon takes...
So there's no way to do this without adding a password? This is such an odd thing to have enabled!
I *don't* want to log in automatically...
This doesn't make any difference, and does the opposite of what I want to do. If I do the steps to disable it it still happens- it's already like this and that's the problem.
