I went into the Clean Boot process, hid the MS programs and the disable all others. I then enabled all and backed out without going through the complete process....

I tried it in safe mode and the problem did not repeat. When I shut down and now powered up, the problem did not come back. It has been eratic…..

I’ll give it a try once I figure out how to enter safe mode...

When I click on a blank area of my desktop, all of my icons disappear. If I click on the task bar, they return but if I try to launch a program, they all disappear and the program doesn't launch.
