Managed to boot in something that was not safe boot and start a repair install (disabled the same services that were not running in safe mode). Only the option to keep files but not apps was...
Not using the wireless card, laptop uses Ethernet to get to the box. (disabling it did nothing, still get a critical process died on boot)
alt f10 gets me to the original recovery menu, auto...
I tried unpluging the ethernet and cutting the wireless in case it was windows update making everythinh slow, but I can't shutdown the wifi (the Fn key is dead). Might try to disable the device...
It came with 8 or 8.1 and got the free win 10 upgrade. Getting the info now, but it takes about 20 minutes to get to the admin cmd from boot.
It's an Acer aspire v3.
>Is this the option you tried:
Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade
I would like to do that, but I can't. You can only run it from windows normal boot,...
Hi.
My mom's laptop is crashing on boot with a CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED error.
It boots in Safe Mode but most things are unresponsive: no windows menu, command prompt opens right away but admin...
I don't see any difference between the visual change (the app calling a refresh) and a complete restart of the PC, icons are the same. Has to be conflicting entries or windows treating some...
I see the change right away, most progs that change icons call a refresh, either on change on on exit. The icons are overwritten when I change some specific extensions, ie. using FilesTypesMan to...
Nope, it just does what the other programs do.
I also tried adding my own keys but it doesn't matter. Weird thing is that if I change .txt default nothing happens, but if I change .css all the...
I think it has to do with the way some apps work. In my registry there are entries for .avi, .mpg, vlc.avi, vlc.mpg, winamp.avi, winamp.mpg. If I change the Default value of vlc.avi and vlc.mpg and...
Yeah, I did that, but it changes only the default icons. (As you can see, it worked for .rtf). But most of the time, the icons I add in the registry are overridden by the default app icon (in the...
Hi, I want to assign a custom icon to every file type no matter what the associated app is. I can change individual default icons, but they get overwritten by the application icon. Is it possible to...
Just tried the lastest 356.50 and I don't crash like I used to. About 40 minutes of HotS in, I crashed in a different way though ... I didn't get a VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE blue s screen, but instead a...

Yes, and yes (at least it's installed, don't know what rapid store does or if it's running)
Just tried 355.98. The crash takes more time to happen, but still happens. (10-20 min vs. 10-30 seconds with previous drivers)
That probably was the cause, yes. I reenabled the GPU and after a tdr failure and a power state failure I managed to configure the driver verifier and reboot. Now my PC is completely frozen on the...
Well, Driver Verifier still crashes on start-up. 38073

Nevermind, I used an install.wim I converted from the install.esd a friend got me and it just completed. Running sfc/scannow now.
Successful repair. i'll try running Driver verifier...
I HAVE the ISO file now:
As I said, I didn't have one. But I downloaded the win 10 install using the Media Creation tool. DISM still can't find the source, even when I point to the install.wim file.
I already did. It doesn't explain why DSIM can't find the source thanks to Windows Update. And I don't have an install image since it was an update from win8.1.
Can't run DSIM properly, it says the source file can't be fount after a (long) while.
Still found corrupt files after the reboot: CBS
Actually I forgot to check some drivers for the Driver Verifier (everything after the MS drivers once I sorted the list alphabeticaly). If I do check everything except MS drivers I crash on restart:...
Driver Verifier completely freezes my PC after start-up and I can't afford to have it running 48h.
I did try something else though: some people reported a possible conflict between NVIDIA drivers...
