I'm in the process of fixing a computer with a HDD for a friend; this usually entails deleting all junk files, then defragmenting with PerfectDisk. I've used PerfectDisk for years and have never had...
Thank you all for your explanations and I now see that those partitions are not empty; in fact, are vital to the operation of Windows. Interesting how third party software (I use AOMEI Partition...

Here's the screenshot you requested. When you load Windows onto a fresh disk, you choose the size of the partition onto which Windows will be installed. Windows then says it needs to create...
I'm a bit confused over the partitions Windows creates when doing a clean install, specifically the 516 MB Recovery drive. As it is always empty, what is it's purpose? Can it be deleted?
I never had a problem installing an update before. I'm running build 21H1, I tried installing this latest update via Windows Update and it appears to finish but there is no restart or indication...
Well, I won't be holding my breath on that one! Think I'll just stick with 20H2.
Thank you for your help, in fact thank all of you. This is an invaluable resource!
Megahertz, unfortunately, there is no option in the bios (I have the latest bios version 213) to turn off the WiFi. In addition, I always use a USB with the iso mounted and click on the setup.exe to...

All, although I haven't made progress, I have found out that the Broadcom WiFi adapter is soldered onto the motherboard so I can't remove it. I thought about prying it off but I would probably...

I recently ran DISM to scan the health of my image and noted that the image version is not the same as the Windows 10 version that is running. Is there any way to update the image so that it is the...
Hi All, spunk mentions that the CMOS batttery is soldered to the motherboard however, I believe that is wrong as there is no CMOS battery visible on either side of the motherboard; in addition, if...
Thanks very much oscer1, I know what the battery looks like but I cannot find it. It's definitely not on the motherboard. I've done a number of searches but can't find the info.
I've taken out the main battery and the motherboard and can't find a CMOS battery anywhere; surely it has to be on the motherboard, but it's not! Does anyone know where it is?
Thank you for your reply - I haven't tried that yet but I will. Also, I notice when I enter the BIOS, the date is always wrong and it changes even after I set it correctly. Will the computer boot...
I recently clean installed Win 10 on a friends' netbook; the install was successful and it was working fine after installing a few drivers, Chrome and a few other software programs. I shut it down...
Thank you Bree, but that didn't solve my problem. I've sent a message to the Family Book Creator support page, maybe they know what's going on.
And thanks to you dalchina, but again, that web...
