Makes perfect sense, as I've been that route in the past.
Since there were numerous problems on HP machines last year, and a lot of trouble updating to later W10 versions because of Conexant...
On W10 20H2, my update of KB5005565 repeatedly failed with Error 0x800F0922 , and rolled itself back at each restart ("Please try later"). I tried it about 4 times.
There were no obvious problems...
Denis,
Browser-since it first arrived on the scene.
I have Macrium (paid version) on all my machines, and an army of backup devices, and it certainly got a good work-out last May, with the HP...
Denis,
SSU and KB4598242 are now installed and showing up in Update History. Phew!
That's been an interesting and worthwhile voyage of discovery, with plenty of information for future...
Denis,
The Repair Install thing is on the first page of the instructions in the Forum here Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade
and reads "If you have Windows 10 version 20H2...
Denis,
Went for a repair install, which was a puzzle in itself. I didn't have KB4586853 installed (supposedly a prerequisite), and this was rejected when trying to install it from msu file....
Denis,
Thanks.
I'll give update another try, with a couple of things changed, and if that doesn't work, a repair Install.
Looking at the EV, the last WU error gave the code as 0x8024200b,...
This is what I've done to date.
1- downloaded the update reset batchfile from the source given, and run it.
2-immediately rebooted the machine
3-downloaded the relevant ssu, although this is...
Apologies for causing confusion.
The miscreant is an Asus laptop running W10 Home 20H2. This is the machine where the msu-run KB4598242 has again fallen over with the 0x8007000D error.
My other...
Denis,
Thank you for the information.
I've checked the SSU, which is listed as KB4598481, and it is shown as installed on 18/1, which is the same day as the main failing CU first tried to...
Denis,
Thanks for that.
I have run the batch file, and realise I should have piped the output somewhere, but didn't. However, it ran OK, with these points:-
- BITS and appidsvc weren't running...
ASUS Vivobook running Win 10 20H2 Home - OS Build 19042.685 (per winver)
WU offers, downloads and then installs KB4598242, and then fails with a "files missing or similar (my recall)-will try...
I suddenly saw a clump of 21 of these 65 errors in my W10 Pro 1909 system, and eventually traced it to the O&O AppBuster program.
I had this on my system from previous attempts to clear out...
I think it's available to install in both Pro and Home, in the Apps>Features screen, which in later W10 releases has apparently superseded the SNMP "enable" option which used to be in Control...
Thanks for your reply. I'm reasonably familiar with what SNMP does, but I can't quite work out why it has started to produce errors, or indeed what it is doing in this particular setup. It's not...
I have suddenly started seeing these EvntAgnt/ SNMP errors, arising at Startup, in the EL. Screenshots attached.
This is W10 Pro 1909 (18363.1082), and I very recently installed updates KB4576484...
I would expect a Features update to change registry settings, either by reverting them and/or by adding new ones, as I understand a Feature update is more or less a complete new Windows installation....
Win 10 1909 Pro (18363.778)
Long story short, but I'm one of the many affected by the May 2020 HP desktop KMODE BSOD and bootloop.
This is apparently caused by Defender clashing with HP...
At May 2020, HP users are having a real BSOD KMODE problem with bootloop, possibly caused by interaction between drivers and Windows Defender.
To cut a long story short, I disabled Tamper...
I'm still on 1809, and I've repaired this twice. I think I'll have to let it go pro tem until a fix is provided (whenever that may be).
I think that, in common with others, my major complaint is...
Thanks for the welcome and swift reply.
I am connected to a router, and the Admin access allows me to change the names of my wireless connections (2.4 and 5) ad lib. However, there doesn't seem to...
I'm a complete novice with W10 (Home)-1803, having just got a new machine to understudy my venerable W7 Ultimate desktop.
My ethernet connection is named "Network Connection". Nothing wrong with...
