Same to you my friend.
That's the exact same radio as my old NIC *facepalm*
Well that just means I already have the drivers for it I guess lol
Anyways, I don't wanna get too cheesy, so I'm just gonna thank you for...
Well... We got some good news!!!
THE NEW NIC FIXED THE PROBLEM!
Wow does this feel relieving... Just one question Ken, I remember you saying you saw a review stating the radio in the wireless...
Interesting, never heard of that program. Is the image in an ISO format? I'll definitely take a look at it. I'm assuming I can just partition my HDD and have the SSD's image save onto that.
LOL, I might just mark it as solved and pretend it's fixed to make your life less stressful! On my desktop I have two drives, an HDD (random stuff) and an SSD (OS and important stuff). I should start...
Just a little update:
The new card won't be here until Tuesday.
Tried a few more things to fix issues with the current card, no luck yet. I plan on doing a network reset to factory defaults...
Did some more troubleshooting (like an idiot lol) and am now less confident the wireless card is the issue. I turned on the mobile hotspot (using LTE) on my phone and connected the desktop to it (via...
Can confirm the reason for not trying the NIC in a different slot is because I don't have any open.
Mistakes? LOL
I see what you mean, I was thinking the MOBO NIC would supply power, my mistake.
Do you mean it goes into a USB port then a cable runs from it to the ethernet port? Sounds more complicated than it could be when PoE is a thing.
This may sound stupid, but no. I can't remember exactly why, but I'm pretty sure my GPU hangs too low and covers one of the two PCI slots that I can actually use. I may be mistaken, but I'm fairly...
I know Realtek is well-known in the networking department. I'm just skeptical now... Won't get the new card in until next week because of the weekend, but I'm gonna keep trying different things with...
I got an email notification that you responded to my post whilst downloading the drivers on my phone and looking at them to see who the radio manufacturer was.. low and behold it's the infamous...
I decided to go with a different one, made by ASUS (yeah I know they aren't known for their networking gear but I don't have a ton of money to spend and this seems like the best option). I didn't go...
TP-LINK ARCHERT6E Network Wireless Ac1300 Dual Band Pci Express Adapter - Newegg.com
Thumbs up or thumbs down?
I'm on Ubuntu right now, ran two speed tests and I'm still getting the slow internet speeds. That leaves me with two possible causes to this problem:
The NIC is bad
or
Motherboard firmware isn't...
I've already done that twice, showing 180mbps link speed and 64% signal strength. I'll try Ubuntu and give you an update.
Edit: I got the driver situation fixed. I'm not sure what I was doing...
There's no option in my router's webUI to set the 2.4GHz band to ac, so I'm assuming I can't. Drop-down list shows only Wireless-G and -N.
Yeah, I am definitely focused 100% on this issue with my desktop right now, and I can't seem to shake it. For so long I just dealt with not being able to use the desktop, which looking back was...
I just discovered something very very interesting...
While using my laptop (on the 2.4GHz network, didn't realize I wasn't connected to the 5GHz) I was trying to watch a 1080p60 YouTube video and...
I feel pretty stupid for not thinking of just looking on Aukey's website. I was focused on Realtek because that was the only model number I had. Either way, that looks exactly like my NIC and the box...
I'm not sure Aukey has a model number for the card, or at least one that is relevant. The box is absent of any sort of model number. It simply says "802.11ac Wireless card" or something like that....
It's now just past 1:15 am: I seem to have made at least some headway. I did a few things and was able to get ~10mbps DL on a speed test... But only once. I am now consistently getting ~6mbps...
Unfortunate results after installing Version 1803: No improvement.
One thing that caught my attention while downloading the update though: I saw my network utilization peak around 9mbps, but that...
