Hi there,
I used to use third-party software to interface with Windows built-in firewall (I tried Tinywall and BiniSoft)
Now, I'm wondering if I can simply use Windows Firewall and skip those...
Hi there,
Here's a curious story to keep you busy with.
A while back I started getting errors on my SATA drive. All of a sudden files were missing, entire folders actually.
I did all possible...
Thank you a lot!
That did it!
During a fresh Win 10 installation (using the Alienware recovery tool), I left the USB thumb drive with the installer plugged in, and during a reboot the setup started from scratch. When I noticed...
Here's an update. I used Alienware recovery tool and this time the installation process went fine.
The only glitch is that during the installation I left the USB key plugged in and the setup started...
Thanks again, dalchina
I'm starting suspecting the same thing.
The PC it's an Alienware. I spoken to the technical support and I'm going to try with their recovery ISO image.
Thank you, dalchina
I checked the disk and everything looks normal. It's a Toshiba NVMe.
Something else is going on and the problem seems to be deeper than expected.
The audio card is not...
Hi there,
Today I've got a strange issue on my machine.
The screen saver started and when I went back to my PC I couldn't resume it.
I had no choice but switch off the computer
When I restarted...
Thank you, Denis
I did search on Dell forum a while back but I couldn't find much.
I was inclined to consider the indexing idea relevant for the only reason that the issues actually manifested...
An update on this issue. Dell suggested to turn off the indexing on the hard drive (I don't use explorer's search anyway). I'll try this and see how it goes.
The strange thing I noticed is that when...
@ Try3
You're right, I read the article more carefully and indeed it's a different case.
Well, I talked to Dell which, for now, suggested to turn off the disk write caching for the SATA hard...
Oh well, guess what?

Thank you again, Pejole2165
Your insights make sense and at this point, as you said, I'll talk to Dell again. If for some reason even that is not going to work I'll just try a second NVME.
As...
Pejole2165,
First off I want to thank you for helping me with this.
As for the specs, I run HWinFO, here's part of the log (the original is quite long):

Hi there,
My pc has been plagued with this issue for quite a while now.
I have two drives. One is an NVMe Toshiba which I use for the OS and software.
Then I had a Seagate SATA 2tb. After some...
das10 thanks! I had overlooked the Connections Log. After I opened it, I've found other several connections for Cinema 4D. I unblocked one of them and that did the trick! Thank you so much, it...
Hi there,
I'm trying to allow a program (Cinema 4D) through the firewall but no matter what I do the access to the Internet for this particular program it's always blocked.
I'm using...
Another workaround that seems to fix the overall Chrome window better is this:
(source: Fixing common Google Chrome Scaling Problems on Windows 10)
In my case, this is what I did:
218140
...
I ended up tweaking the global setting for the zoom, so all pages now open at 75% zoom level.
It's a workaround, it's an odd issue but at least now it looks consistent with the other programs.
Thank you for chiming in, Dirk Gently. The fact that you haven't seen a solution is not encouraging, but actually, I was noticing the same thing. I've been looking through forums and blogs and so far...
Thank you, mddc1010
I tried both options, no luck.
Hi there,
Something happened after one of the latest Win10 updates.
I use a UHD monitor and in order to have a reasonable good scale, I changed the scale size under the Display settings up to...
I get that and as Kari said it shows standard as pre-selected which I consider a bad design choice for the reasons I explained above.
Got it, thank you @Kari for the explanation!
I think the design choice is not clear, though. Commonly, software UIs show the current tool/option/status as the active option, whereas in the windows...
Hi there,
Maybe this is totally normal, but I'm not quite sure why it works this way.
In the Win10 panel, the account shows as administrator, in the old control panel it looks different:
