Figured it out. Some time ago I apparently used Cyberlink Power2Go to create a virtual drive, presumably to do a Windows 'version' upgrade that wasn't working properly through Windows Update. It...
My AV is just MS Defender. And my worry is that using Safe Mode and deleting it could cause harm on the next boot up.
So Unlock It does show H:\ (CD Drive) as locked. Not the file itself, though when you try to delete the file, it can't.
I did 'check', then UI says it's not locked, but it really still is.
...
One oddity - Microsoft says that you should be able to see a virtual drive in Disk Management, but this does not show.
...
You are probably right, but why would that process have the file mounted and open in the first place? My concern is that there is something going on that I can't see, and that if I could unmount it...
Eject is ghosted out. You can't eject while a process has a file open. What I don't understand is why an ISO I haven't needed in a long time would be opened by the SYSTEM process. I'm a couple...
My 21H1 Win 10 Pro PC has an old ESD ISO mounted as a virtual drive. It won't eject. SYSTEM therefore has the file open and not able to delete. Nearly 5GB is a lot of space to waste. I confirmed...
No, checked that too. Funny thing; of all the laptops I've used over many years, only 2 have had ETHERNET problems. The other is my daughter's Alienware, and I think it also has Killer Ethernet. ...
Let me make this clear to newcomers. On these MSI RAIDER laptops, you can be plugging along with normal web use, try to open a web page, get a message that you are disconnected from the web. Maybe...
If you are saying to disable the ability to turn off the ethernet device to save power - ABSOLUTELY. You can do that through power management. Nothing to do with improving the performance, but it...
One thing is obvious - I'm not the only person with the problem. I've rebooted my FIOS gear, any Ethernet gear along the path. Swapped any cables I can. Seems far less likely on WiFi than plugged...
For now, check your Ethernet drivers. I uninstalled, let them reinstall. Plus you can make sure they are current. Then see how you do. That's an easy gotcha to deal with and prove out. And I...
Has anyone seen this and have any ideas? Problem has not been resolved yet.
I've got a new MSI GE75 raider. Overall well equipped for my needs, including Ethernet (home use, faster, more secure). I get something happening that I've not seen in a long time. All of a sudden...
Pro gives more control of update timings - that enough made it worthwhile to me. Plus occasional use for work.
For Edge, every time it annoys me, I look to see what triggered it and take it away. I don't hate Edge, I just use Chrome.
For the most part I'm OK with having the native / comes with it Windows...
Nice that Macrium has a solution. But what happens to tools that look for SRP space? And if that 'log' problem were to happen in your system partition and squeeze it full? Maybe MS still has a...
MS hints a lot about it. Lots of things seem to use it as a temporary cache. Windows (7) Backup and Restore. That I knew from experience. Today I learned that when Windows tries to do a feature...
The mystery continues. At the time of my last post, I noticed that all of a sudden, tree size free reported a lot less space in use in the SRP. Maybe going in triggered something. At any rate, ran...
Let's try again.
This is a file problem, a file you can't normally see that keeps growing, I estimate at least 30MB in size or so at this time.
I tried that partition manager, it's 100% VIRUS. ...
Which results? None of these are connected to the problem. Partitions are normal. It's not an issue with system images. Disc clean doesn't fix this. It's a known problem. People enlarge their...
1. Disc cleanup has zero effect on this problem. Tried it anyway, it sees NOTHING to be cleaned up.
2. The longer I think about it, the more sure I am that this is some sort of unseen logging into...
I'm familiar with it. The fonts take up very little space, no idea why MS posted that. No, as I recall, there was a list of a few, likely powershell commands, that were capable of cleaning out...
A couple years ago I was trying to get WIndows Backup & Restore working, but it wouldn't because the SRP was full. I found a way at the time that with a few commands (either in CMD window or...
As I've tried to say, no IASTOR drivers were actually in use on my laptop. Elsewhere in this thread I recall seeing how you switch from IASTOR drivers to the normal drivers. I do STRONGLY suggest...
