Will be getting in touch with Microsoft support tomorrow. Lets see what they have for this issue.
Nope. Its a USB 3.0 Drive with maximum transfer speed of 120 MB/S however this problem is not just with external drives.
Even moving data within Internal drive takes disk usage to 100%. I guess...
Sorry for hijacking your thread. I too face similar issue in Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 (Latest Build).

Can someone help me on this?
I've spoken to a lot of technicians from Dell and they think that its normal however it is not.
They told me that its a bug with new Win 10 but I installed Win 8.1...
What I wanted to know, is the disk performing at its best? If you check the disk specification the maximum read/write speed is 140 MB/s. Is the disk fine? I’m concerned about the disk since this is a...
It means due to slow write speed my disk usage is high, right?
I'm not sure how you calculated these figures :(
So basically getting a SSD is the only option here?
Also from previous post,
Do you think write speed can be so much low on a new Hard drive? ...
Here you go.
First picture shows data transfer within internal HD.
Second picture shows data transfer from USB 3.0 to internal HDD.
I tried disabling USB Scan for External drive and defender as well but no changes occurred in disk usage.
Here's a new Trace file which showed 100% disk usage while getting maximum transfer rate. ...
Yes I'll do that soon but do you think write speed can be so much low on a new Hard drive?
As per this link: https://www.seagate.com/www-content/datasheets/pdfs/mobile-hddDS1861-2-1603-en_US.pdf,...
Yes sir, there are 2 more partitions other than the OS one.
The maximum transfer rate of my USB 3.0 is 110MB/s.
I also ran CrystalDiskMark and was shocked to see the results.

iTunes was run by mistakenly so it might have come over there.
Shall I disable the defender and see if it helps?
Not sure why. It works on my laptop.
Uploaded the rar again. Please have a look otherwise I might have to upload it to a different hosting.

I disabled Superfetch and noticed lack in performance so enabled it again however it doesn't affect the disk usage while transferring.
Here's the trace file while transferring data from USB....
Have already set this for Better performance but the issue here is that the disk usage spikes to 100% the moment I start transferring files from USB to my Hard drive.
I had previously upgraded the Windows but since this is a new Hard drive so I installed 1803 directly.
I do have performance recorder installed however I'm not sure what to record here? Last time...
I've been getting this issue since I'm using Windows 10. I feel like using a Pentium 4 processor laptop :(
Have attached screenshot of the same.
PS: Hard drive is just a week old as the older one died and was replaced under warranty.
Hi all,
I'm facing a weird issue with Windows 10 where if I'm copying data from my USB 3.0 drive to my Hard drive it takes the disk usage to 100% thereby making the computer unusable. I'm having a...
That is already set to default.
PS: The issue is fixed now. Had to uninstall and delete the hidden drivers from Device manager. Maxxaudio was installed and now shows a dialog box the moment I...
As per Dell support website, 6.0.1.8142 is the latest one with Release date of 13th June, 2017. You think it will work well with the newer build of Windows 10?
Edit: I just installed the driver...

Hey Steve I already ran Autoruns before I posted the problem here. The malicious and old Intel driver were the cause. Thank you for the reply :).
Thanks a lot Zinou. You have been a great help.
Boot-up time has certainly gone down and now I feel it is justified for a 5400 RPM drive.
I've a question for you:
How to keep track on latest...
