It isn't your fault. The driver linked in the opening post isn't meant for regular Realtek Onboard Audio but specific intel ones with SST. You can download the 6.0.1.8470 version of the drivers...
How do you determine that driver version A is better than driver version B? Just curious.

I can't comprehend the fact that an intel SST driver that doesn't work with the majority of the Realtek HD Audio Codecs has been stickied on the first post.
I don't know about you guys but this driver just won't playback any sound for me. I have BIOSTAR Hi-Fi Z77X motherboard with ALC898 onboard.
