My experience is that Windows System Restore has always worked reliably for the last few years IF I restore it in SAFE MODE. I have had more failures than successes if not in safe mode before I made...
I guess there is not much I can do about it. The previous 7.58am event said the same thing, then I rebooted and tried to run the offline scan again. Then rebooted once again and copied the log....
The key was there and set to 0, I didn't have to create it. I tried to run the scan offline again and nothing happened. The box did pop up asking for permission and I said yes and that was it. I...
Thanks for the reply. I found the offlinescanrun and it is set to 0x00000000. I tried to modify to 1 then realized I should have left it at 0, and it said "Cannot edit OfflineScanRun: Error writing...

Today, it updated itself...
Mine is creating almost daily windows module installer restore points. I normally create a restore point once a month so if I have a problem, I can go back and get it instead of reloading the machine...
Ahhh found this thread. It appears classic shell gets corrupted sometimes so it should be uninstalled before going to build 1709. The 3rd response here is the same as what happened to me. I...
Well I did some sniffing around and found out how to uninstall without using control panel, then did away with IDT audio and that solved the control panel issue.
I also learned build 1709 does not...
OK, I was able to disable classic shell and that stabilized most things, but cannot get into control panel to programs and features to delete it. Safe mode won't allow windows installer to start in...
Had perfect running updated DV7 HP. Always updated. Always scanned for virus'. SFC never reports errors. SSD drive 840 Pro that works well. Does same thing with backup SSD.
Update loads fine, no...
