i have an HP and the option is in the BIOS ..
ie. i use FN + F6/F7/F8 for volume control..
- if i don't enable it in the BIOS.. i don't have to include FN combination..
id search in the BIOS.
i found a way yesterday..
but it caused the Start Menu to fail..
and trying to restore caused errors.. eventually leading to boot problems.
i had to restore to an old System Image..
i'd leave...
cool.. thanks
i noticed that yesterday.. i thought it looked different..
Start PowerShell and execute:
DISM /Online /Get-ProvisionedAppxPackages | select-string Packagename
DISM /Online /Remove-ProvisionedAppxPackage /PackageName:**PACKAGENAME**
that completely...
yea.. i have Cortana disabled via GPEdit.
i also removed all traces of Cortana from my system and registry.
it's still there.
this sucks.
i love Win10.. the theme is fantastic..
i love the no border, flat interface, thick shadow :)
my only gripe is Windows Update, and no control over some pinned apps. in "All Programs".
Unfortunately, that was the first place i looked..
but Cortana is a special app. and is not listed in those places.
this is why i am asking.. if it was that easy.. i wouldn't have to ask :)
i notice they appear after using Edge... sorry.. have no solution though.
no.. im talking about from the Start Menu.

cool.. thanks.
i've searched everywhere, and even uninstalled Cortana from Windows Features..
it's no longer running.. but i can't figure out how to unpin it from the Start Menu.
Anyone know how to unpin...
i was one of those people..
finally figured out the trick yesterday..
i don't trust Microsoft so avoid communicating with them as much as possible.
If anyone is still having problems or is...
i recieved it during the upgrade but lost it after doing a clean install.
it's free... you just need to know how to find it.
it's cheap but nice to have OEM software.
and it integrates into...
not sure if this has been shared. . i searched but didn't find anything.
apparently Windows has a hidden, alternate dark theme matching MetroApps :)

Unfortunately.. this is only...
i wrote a tutorial after posting this..
i must've upgraded/clean installed 20 times already.
i've been at this since last week..
finally figured it out yesterday :)
Read my Tutorial here.

Start PowerShell > execute the following:
Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}
Then Restart
i upgraded through WMC tool..
and successfully activated.
although i got the GWX notification too..
but i disabled it, lol.. i was annoyed when i got it.
FYI: update and it should activate. ....
no.. i clicked "Skip" twice.
ive called Microsoft by invoking slui4 command and they said "sorry, you can only upgrade".
thanks.. the "Activate" button doesn't appear.
it just says "Key Blocked".
hey guys.. just a bit of warning.
i've also been reading around the Internet and people were saying Microsoft saves a Hash ID of your Hardware after successful activation.
im beginning to doubt...
the GWX icon is different than just upgrading?
yes
i made sure of that.? there's no "Activate" button.. which is weird. i remember seeing it the first time i did a clean install.
i've also been siting here unactivated since 3 days ago.. there's no Activate button and the error says "Key Blocked"? i thought we could do clean installs after successfully upgrading?
i called...
