Interestingly, the Reliability Monitor ( I hadn't come across this before) still has records of events from just before the system restore, e.g it logs my running the troubleshooter.
But nothing...
No. That would only have made sense if one printer of the two had suddenly lost connection to the PC. But not when both, one Canon wifi one Brother USB are both being seen by the PC, but neither is...
"Reliability History" is not something I've come across before. Is it some kind of log?
Image clean ups and other such remedial actions aren't needed, since the problem is resolved. I really am just...
Be aware though that the free version will not offer any updates after January. They're ending it.
In as much as a system restore solved the problem, below, I'd dealt with it. I just wonder if anyone can explain it and help me find a less drastic solution if it happens again...
My computer...
It's resolved. By magic apparently. Though it may be a coincidence that there was a Windows update this morning, presumably the one that was lost when I reimaged. And this evening everything is back...
Not done the mobo chipset drivers. That is a bigger job with bigger risks. So I need to do that when I have time to recover. Also need to go back and find my mobo details.
No. Didn't help. 🙁
No. None. And I've deleted and let Windows reinstall the mice drivers too.

Currently letting "logi options" reinstall. Supposedly it updated on the 15th.
That makes at least as much sense as anything else. Certainly seems the most likely thing. I wonder if drivers installed by Windows have corrupted something. Maybe drivers talk to the OS interface...
Yes, I agree. Maybe the logitech driver did some kind of update. Worth a try. It's weird that only system items are affected. This is far outside my skill set. What could be sending a <scroll up>...
I could. I already have a set of Macrium images and used one to reimage the PC back to how it was a couple of weeks ago. (Didn't help btw)
So I guess I have nothing to lose.
That will have to wait...
I have a spare (simpler but also wireless) Logitech mouse and dongle. So I tried the different combinations of USB port, dongle and mouse. I also deleted the drivers and let Windows reinstall them....
I'd hoped it was just that.
Unplugged keyboard- no change. Swapped mice and USB dongles- no change.
And it doesn't happen in normal places, like documents or web pages. Only in Windows elements...
Putting the mouse in menus (start menu or drop down menus) when I scroll down it scrolls itself back to the top again.
I've read the various suggested fixes, and tried them- even ones that don't...
It's not worth my using the nuclear option I guess. This is a desk PC, not a laptop, so it's not changing location any time soon. And I don't have location settings on.
I don't use Bing maps, And...
Yeah I've done that. using Powershell getappx (or something like that) command. It's gone as an app. But the folder still rises from the dead after I delete it. The Windows System Settings options...
I've turned off "offline maps". I don't want or need this.
I've deleted the offline maps folders.
But it still keeps coming back.
I don't want this zombie folder on my computer. Anywhere. It's my...
Thanks yes I explored some other bits too. It seems to be really good at putting back the bits that Microsoft has removed for corporate stupidity reasons. e.g. I've replaced the Windows start sound...
Thanks, I'll try the Winaero option. I don't think my Paint version is a Store App, because it is in a default folder. Store Apps usually lodge themselves in the stupid alphabetic list (One reason...
This is a tiny niggle, but niggle it is. Maybe there's no solution, but here goes...
MSPaint wasn't on my new computer by default. It's easy to get, though Microsoft being Microsoft, it's not...
It is sorted. New machine was on a Microsoft account for my log in. Older PC a local account. Making new PC log in to my user account local seems to have sorted the problem. Suddenly sharing was...
The settings don't seem to have changed. Master browser is set to be on the New PC only.
Old PC has been through numerous Windows updates before without losing connection to other networked...
As I half expected. Now I don't get connection in either direction. The main PC that was seeing my second, older computer's shares now can't get access. It's currently displaying both itself and the...
How do I resolve which is the "master browser"? That's not something I've come across but my experience and intuition tell me that maybe this is something I need to look at.
The Netbios scanner sees...
