Hello, maybe the last time.
Just popping in to report this script works fine on win 11 too. I finished rebuilding 1 of 2 PC and updated it to 11 (OMG the start menu is FUGLY) and have already used...
The time has come (tax return came in) to move on to windows 11.
Our old i7-4790k + Win 10 pc's are finally starting to fall behind in the gaming technology race and EOL for win 10 is not too far...
Just popping in to say, it works fine and Thank you.
I'll grabbed it, looked inside it and I'll try it out next time I need to clear the history.
Thanks to both You and Garlin.
Hey Guys,
This update breaks my start button. Notifications Panel won't open either.
StartMenuExperienceHost.exe will not run even if I try to start it manually.
I tried every fix I could...
Ok, restarting in safe mode doesn't work anymore because now defender is running and the file is in use.
So now you must do it in the Recovery Enviroment (DOS) without starting windows at all.
...
Windows defender scans way too much, often causing problems when I need the resources for games.
I don't want to disable automatic scans entirely, I just want to take control of when they happen....
The log should also say what was making the connection.
Q: Do you have Secure rules and Secure Profile enabled? IF not WFC can't prevent other programs from adding thier own allow rules.
On a side note, disabling the "preserve zone info" with the GPE has sped up data xfer from one HDD to another HDD by 50%.
Thanks Brink,
That (the first link) looks like it will do what I want.
I've never actually had a file blocked. I just don't like M$ adding 'Alternate Data Streams" to my files.
M$'s efforts...
I ran into the same issue, I could not turn on dns over https, "This browser is managed blah blah..."
I have installed the group policies for Edge (which is now named "MicrosoftEdge" not "Edge"...
Have you tried removing the 'file streams"?
"https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/streams" (If you already have the full sysinternals package, you already have the streams.exe)...
As the only folder affected "C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Scans\History\Service" is deleted and then recreated by the system with the same attributes upon reboot, there is no security...
M$ has made it more difficult to delete the the Service folder so I worked out a new simple method.
#1 Restart in safe mode.
#2 In elevated command prompt run "takeown /f...
Aye, a search simply for "D:\Dave" returns zero results.
As a baseline I searched for "E:\Dave" and everything (That is under E:\Dave 10.2) was found as it should be.
The entires on the...
You would think that would work except, there are no registry entries corrosponding to the exclusions in question. Odd no?
.. and I don't have an aversion to windows search, I just never use it.
These folders do not exist and clicking the remove button does nothing.
They did exist at one point but all that stuff is located on another drive now.
I rarely search with explorer and when I...
As usual, M$ is deaf and dumb when asked what something actually does.
Does anyone here know what this proccess is actually doing?

I know how to see what ip's my PC is connecting to. I want to do the same for my router. (Lynksys EA2700)
In my router control panel I block specific ips for specific devices, and I have static...
This bring up a good point. They are "Chromebooks", they do not run windows.
I'm so used to coming to these forums with networking issues that I didn't think about that. They are indeed...
Thanks but, your focusing on the wrong thing. I'm not asking about the parental controls.
I need to know how to force the chromebooks to show up as seperate devices in the device list or at least...
No, I must pick a device from the list, hence why I need to split them.
I'm using a Cisco Lynksys EA2700 router.
All my devices are setup with static ip's except for the 2 School Chromebooks the kids have that use Wi-Fi. I can not access the systems settings on those...

I figured it out.
I only recently updated to 2004 and I was trying out "Edge Application Guard". "..Microsoft Edge opens the site in an isolated Hyper-V-enabled container..".
