I've managed to fix the problem :)

In order for windows 10 to obey the command to hide the language bar, one must first enable the check box "Use the desktop language bar when it's available".

Thanks for that option, but the icon that I cannot hide is actually the Language setting.

Currently the icon just shows "ENG".

The icon can be hidden if I remove the german...
