Yes regarding drivers I now have a problem with the Realtek ones along with Nahimic the sound is crackling / distorted at any volume level ! though if I un-install both then the problem go's away.......

Thanks, I tried that but it made no difference... I changed the boot order to usb/dvd then hdd and that has solved the problem for some reason.
The thing being there are a few similar boot order...
When I click on the upgrade assistant link that magically appeared on my desktop I go through clicking the required buttons and the upgrade starts to download eventually (very slowly) it is obviously...
My laptop is about 6 months old and it has those two recovery partitions also along with the manufactures image etc on another drive.... so I would assume it is normal now.
