if you haven't found a solution I suggest this:
drop the homegroup
enroll all computers in a workgroup.......... MSHOME... is fine
each machine should issue a Welcome to MSHOME
...
Have you tried connecting to your shares by creating a link using that Add a Network Location from the menu on
This PC page. That will add an individual share and it appears as a shortcut on C:\ ....

Something gets flakey and I stick the media disk in the drive, open it to view files, and run setup to install everything :over the top"...
