Thanks Samuria
All the drives on the system (I have several) are clean as far as I can tell, they have no chkdsk errors anyway.
I use Malwarebytes Premium on the system, and it does a full scan...
I have four unexplained event log error messages every time I boot Windows 10, which are puzzling me and I haven't been able to resolve them.
Windows 10 Pro 22H2 x64 build 19045.4046.
The first...
Thanks for that, but sorry I should have updated this myself.
I subsequently discovered that the faulty Messenger app I had installed was not the 'official' one published by Meta.
The one on my...
This update took an age to install for me, three times the install progress apparently stopped, for around 15 minutes each time.
There was still disk activity, heaven knows what it was doing for all...
I have two machines with the latest version of Windows 10 on them.
On one of them, the Messenger app suddenly started malfunctioning.
It runs but for an instant (I recorded it on video!) it throws...
OK, I found the culprit!
It was a hardware monitoring program I updated on the machine after running an old version for some time.
It appears to work fine, but presumably causes some sort of...
No, I've only got what came with the operating system.
:-)
Thanks yes, I will look at that too!
:-)
Thanks for that.
Sorry, my profile was very out of date, I've updated it now!
I guess from what you're saying that this is not a known issue, so I will try a clean boot as you suggest, and if this...
Sorry if the thread title sounds a bit vague, I couldn't think of anything better!
This is only a cosmetic problem, but it is puzzling me.
For all the years I've been using Windows 10, when I...
Just an update on this.
I just checked the Reliability Monitor, and it appears that MST v5.113 was installed on May 11th along with the other updates.
However there is no sign of it in the Windows...
No Malicious Software Removal Tool for me this month, just KB5026361 and another .NET update 'preview' forced on me.
Done a manual update check several times, and no sign of MST.
:-)
I just don't understand why they label the updates as 'previews' if they're going to be forcibly rolled out.
The 'previews' of the cumulative OS security updates seem to always be optional, so why...
Why have I just been told to reboot to install this update when it's a preview?
Aren't previews supposed to be optional?
I'm not happy on principle with installing previews, I would rather wait...
I got it on all of my machines, but on one it appeared separately from the cumulative update.
I bet if you scan for updates again it will be there!
:-)
Still crawlingly slow to install here, on both my machines.
The usual very long apparent hang at 23% and 74%, just like all these cumulative updates do for me.
:(
I also got KB4023057 on both...
Fingers crossed!
:-)
Thanks.
I'm rather hoping that once it's installed, it will stay installed through whatever updates come, and won't suddenly tell me that I can't run it any more!
It does seem to work fine as I...
I was surprised and pleased to find that using the information here, and here, I was able to install Windows 11 on my ancient (for a computer) 2009 motherboard.
After some Windows Updates, I now...
I have the same problem here after changing the profile picture on my Microsoft account.
The picture changed correctly on the account itself, and on the Windows login screen, but the Windows Photos...
All good here.
Took as long as the usual Patch Tuesday updates, with the usual long apparent hang at 21% and 74%.
:-)
Yes, I got it when it was a "preview", and no, it wasn't optional!
:D
Wow, thank you so much!
I wasn't expecting a response that quickly, and it worked perfectly!
How strange that you can just do that from an elevated command prompt, not even needing...
Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I have exactly the same issue.
Rather than just changing the size setting and presumably letting the log get absolutely huge, especially as I have Windows...
Yes I could use a thumb drive of course, but as my machines have optical drives available I still like to use a DVD, perhaps for no better reason than the fact that I've always done.
Old school!
