Well heres an update to my earlier post, as of Thursday evening, the problem suddenly up and disappeared , with no action on my part except to clear my history after I logged off Wednesday night....

About a month ago, what will I lose if I reset chrome as opposed to just clearing history?

I think they turned off the auto protect in my Norton, to get the realtek driver to start.
I checked everything when I got home, they had turned it off while it was in the shop.

You may have to turn off your anti-virus if you have it, some of them prevent system restore from working, like Norton.

Well thanks for the advice everyone, I schlepped my machine back to the shop that did the upgrade,they corrected the sound problem in less than an hour.
I'll be sure to drop in if I have more...

The shop upped it to 8GB of memory.
It's an A6110N.
They also upgraded the graphics card.
I think they would have known if there was compatibility issues, everything else works fine.
