    Hi Zbook,
Thanks for the information, I am in the process of doing the checks that you've suggested.
Could I just ask your opinion on what it could be?
I will briefly explain my theory.
I had SSD and HDD. Let's say in port 1 and 2 on my laptop respectively. My SSD gradually died. I removed SSD from 1 and moved existing data HDD to 1(as even at this point I thought the port could be the problem). Then I installed another newish HDD to port 2 to use as the OS hard drive. Before this I hadn't noticed any problems with the backup data HDD. Now it appears that the problem is with this backup HDD: so could it be the actual port on my laptop is frying/causing problems on the HDDs?
    Many thanks,
    Lucas

Ok I'm just about onto Number 8.
I will post what I have so far. It's been difficult, a lot of stuff is failing when running on one of the hard drives.
I will just add the pictures for the first hard drive scan here.

    Hi,

I've struggled a lot today just to get my laptop to open anything up, but I've managed to get into the task manager just to show how the HDD is almost constantly at 100% usage.
I will keep on trying to do more of the tests.

    Thanks,
    Lucas
